The Animated Family Comedy Based on the 1960’s Series “Here Comes the Grump“ Will Hit Theaters September 14th

Los Angeles, CA Blue Fox Entertainment announced today that they have acquired North American rights for the animated family adventure comedy A WIZARD’S TALE, starring Lily Collins (OKJA, TO THE BONE), Ian McShane (Deadwood, KUNG FU PANDA), and Toby Kebbell (WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES, KONG: SKULL ISLAND). The film, produced by Mexican animation studio Ánima Estudios with UK outfits Prime Focus World and GFM Animation (a sister company of GFM Films)  and based on the 1960’s NBC animated series “Here Comes the Grump,” will open day and date, in theaters and on VOD in the United States on September 14, 2018.
The film was directed by Andrés Couturier (TOP CAT BEGINS) from a script by Jim Hecht (ICE AGE: THE MELTDOWN) and designs by Craig Kellman (MADAGASCAR, SAUSAGE PARTY). It was produced by Fernando de Fuentes (TOP CAT: THE MOVIE), Jose C. Garcia de Letona (EL AGENTE 00-P2)),Gregory Gavanski (THE HURRICANE HEIST), Asif Sayed (KINGSGLAIVE: FINAL FANTASY XV, and Bill Schultz (The Simpsons).

Andreas Olavarria negotiated the deal on behalf of Blue Fox Entertainment with GFM Films’ Fred Hedman on behalf of the filmmakers.

A WIZARD’S TALE is a magical family adventure story that sees a young kid named Terry (Kebbell) whisked away to the colorful Kingdom of Groovynham.  The evil wizard Grump (McShane) has cast a spell of gloom over the land and as such, smiling & laughter are now a thing of the past.  Terry must travel the Kingdom in search of a spell that will help get everyone’s happy back and along the way help Princess Dawn (Collins), outwit all manner of strange & wonderful creatures, and try an embrace a little thing called “change.”

“We are excited to enter the family animation space, especially with such a fun, positive story voiced by such high level talent as Lily Collins, Toby Kebbell and the great Ian McShane” said Blue Fox Entertainment in a statement. “The film is a good reminder that the world needs laughter and we’re proud to bring it to audiences in North America.”
