JAGUARS SIGN QUARTERBACK LANDRY JONES

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed sixth-year QB Landry Jones, the club announced today. The Jaguars had an open roster spot after trading DE Dante Fowler Jr. to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a 2019 third-round draft pick and a 2020 fifth-round pick on Tuesday, Oct. 30.

Jones, 6-4, 225, was originally selected in the fourth round (115th overall) of the 2013 draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He appeared in 18 games while with the Steelers and has a 3-2 record in five career starts. Jones has completed 108 of 169 career passes (63.9 comp. pct.)  for 1,310 yards, eight TDs and seven INTs for a career passer rating of 86.2. In his most recent start against the Browns on Dec. 31, 2017, Jones completed 23 of 27 passes for 239 yards and one TD and posted a 100.5 passer rating in the Steelers’ 28-24 victory.

A native of Artesia, N.M., Jones attended the University of Oklahoma for four seasons (2009-12) and started 50 of 52 games, including a Sooners QB-record 48 consecutive starts. He completed 1,388 of 2,183 career passes for 16,646 yards and 123 TDs. His 16,646 passing yards are a Big 12 and school record, while his 123 passing TDs rank third in Big 12 history and second in Oklahoma history (Baker Mayfield, 131).  Jones attended Artesia (N.M.) High School, where he threw for 7,013 yards and 89 TDs and led his team to consecutive Class 4A State Championships.
