“My goal with the start of this series is to liberate the lives of those who seek love, lust and honesty,” says The-Dream when asked about the inspiration behind his forthcoming release. “This is me and my lover’s ongoing diary – truly an unapologetic treat to the world of R&B.”
While his penmanship across smash records such as Beyoncé ’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” Ciara ’s “Ride” and Justin Bieber ’s “Baby” have amassed him platinum status behind the scenes, The-Dream has quietly driven the ever-changing sound of the R&B genre for the past decade as a solo artist having five studio albums already under his belt, a slew of compilations projects including fan favorite The Love Trilogy , undeniable hit records such as “I Luv Your Girl,” “Make Up Bag,” and “IV Play” and most recently, his visual album Genesis (2016). With this new installation of Sex Tape volumes, The-Dream aims to let people into the charisma of his world, telling tales of lavish lifestyle experiences that entice desire, invoking the nature of adulthood and promoting freedom and independence in whichever way you chose to explore as a listener – all while creating quality music that defies trend and
shifts R&B culture.
You’re in for a wild ride…are you ready to dream?
GRAMMY® Award-winning singer, songwriter, producer, fine artist, filmmaker, and entrepreneur The-Dream forever changed modern R&B, pop, hip-hop, and culture and achieved one of music’s most influential and impactful legacies. He cemented himself as the generation’s preeminent prolific songwriter with four GRAMMY® Awards. He penned era-defining smashes such as Rihanna’s “Umbrella,” Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” Ciara’s “Ride,” Justin Bieber’s “Baby,” JAY-Z’s “Holy Grail” [feat. Justin Timberlake], Nas’s “Adam and Eve,” Kanye West’s “All of the Lights” and “Ultralight Beam” [feat. Chance the Rapper, Kelly Price, & Kirk Franklin] on which he also featured as a vocalist, and countless others. As a solo artist, he delivered a classic in the form of the 2007 gold-selling Love Hate and its lead-off smash “Shawty Is A 10” followed by a pair of Top 5 debuts on the Billboard Top 200, namely Love Vs. Money and Love King . In 2016, he broke ground with the visual album Genesis and its short film debuted at the Versace Mansion.
The-Dream always aspired to fulfill a 360-degree vision. As an entrepreneur, he quietly built an empire. He franchised eleven Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen restaurants and nine Burger King locations throughout the southeast. He made history in 2018 by selling publishing for 75% of 302 titles from his back catalog to Hipgnosis Songs Fund Limited owned by Merck Mercuriadis. The deal would be the first of its kind. He honed his talents as a fine artist, painting pieces for the homes of collaborators and on display in The Bahamas. 2019 sees The-Dream manifest every ambition at a new level. He ignites a “100-track year” with 38 songs from his anxiously awaited Sex Tape Series. For the first time since the Love Series, he’s back in his role of Chairman and releasing his music independently on his own RadioKilla Records label.
In the end, The-Dream’s plan is just starting to fully materialize, and his biggest, boldest, and best era has just begun.
