SINGLE “SOMEONE YOU LOVED” TOPPED UK CHART FOR SEVEN STRAIGHT WEEKS

TRACK HIT #1 ON SPOTIFY’S TODAY’S TOP HITS – CUMULATIVE GLOBAL STREAMS OF CAPALDI’S SONGS ARE OVER ONE BILLION

After topping the album charts in the UK, Scotland and Ireland for two consecutive weeks with his debut album, Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, Lewis Capaldi will make his U.S. late night television debut on ”The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on June 5. He will also perform on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” on June 10.

His breakout single, “Someone You Loved,” shattered records throughout Europe and just ended a nearly unprecedented seven straight week run at #1 on the UK charts. It is now the top selling UK single of the year. In the U.S., the single recently hit #1 on Spotify’s Today’s Top Hits playlist. It’s a Top 20 hit at Hot AC radio and climbing Billboard’s Hot 100. Cumulative global views of the official video, starring Scottish actor Peter Capaldi (“Dr. Who”), have surpassed 30 million. Capaldi gave his first live performance of the track “Hold Me While You Wait” for Vevo LIFT and also performed “Someone You Loved.” “Grace,” another track from the album, was recently heard in an episode of “Grey’s Anatomy.”

The 22-year-old Scottish singer-songwriter’s North American summer tour – which includes shows at New York City’s Irving Plaza (June 4) and the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles (June 12) – sold out early on, prompting him to upgrade venues in Seattle and Portland and add a series of fall 2019 dates. Full itinerary can be found here.  Capaldi’s March 2020 tour of the UK and Ireland recently sold out in mere seconds, making him the first artist in history to sell out arenas prior to the release of a debut album. He will join both Ed Sheeran and The Killers on tour in the UK this summer.

Cumulative global streams of all Capaldi’s songs have amassed over billion worldwide. Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent is now officially the biggest selling album of 2019 in the UK and went Gold within the first week. It sold over 89,000 combined units, outselling the entire week’s Top 10 albums combined, making it the biggest selling UK debut week 1 album of the year – ahead of Ariana Grande, and even beating record sales for Adele’s 19. With over 25 million week 1 streams, he became the top streaming debut album artist ever in the UK. This week, Capaldi retains the #1 position on the UK Official Albums Chart Top 100 with the biggest selling week 2 of 2019, outselling the rest of the Top 5 releases combined.

“Lewis Capaldi has a generation in the palm of his hand,” says The Line of Best Fit, praising the album as “compelling.” TIME notes, “Lewis Capaldi has the kind of deep, textured voice that you could listen to for hours. He finds expressive rough edges, then smooths them out into the sweetest of notes…Capaldi’s talent is tugging at heartstrings – or rather, pulling at them with all his vocal might.”

Capaldi was hailed as a 2018 Vevo DSCVR Artist To Watch and a 2019 Vevo LIFT Artist, longlisted for the BBC Sound Of 2018 Poll, and won Breakthrough Artist of the Year honors at the Scottish Music Awards. He was nominated for the BRIT Awards Critics’ Choice award and named an MTV UK PUSH Ones To Watch artist. Capaldi has toured with Rag’n’Bone ManNiall Horan, and Sam Smith, and performed at such festivals as Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Firefly, Mountain Jam, Splendour in the Grass, Fuji, and Osheaga
