Commanding a cult of followers attracted to his dark lyricism and inventive flows, 22-year-old rapper wifisfuneral occupies a unique position in hip-hop’s class of SoundCloud graduates. Following-up a fan favorite, wifisfuneral shares “wya pt. 2,” his latest single. The sequel to “wya?,” a highlight from 2017’s The Boy Who Cried Wolf mixtape that eventually inspired a remix featuring Ugly God, “wya pt. 2” shows wifi’s progression as an artist, as he complements his technical rhyming with bursts of emotional melody. “wya pt. 2” is the latest release from Ethernet 2, wifi’s upcoming EP, following last week’s “eggs,” a spritely new single.
The follow-up to 2018’s Ethernet Vol. One mixtape, which racked up over 60 million streams on Spotify alone, Ethernet 2 expands upon the themes of alienation and addiction that defined the first volume. The EP will host recent singles such as “run?“, which peaked at #3 on SoundCloud’s New & Hot chart, “No Trust,” a pure evil and bass-heavy single, which boasts wifi’s first credit as a producer, and “30 For 30,” featuring Al Benji. Last week, wifisfuneral shared the video for “Alone As A Facetat,” an XXXTentacion tribute from his late 2018 Leave Me The F*ck Alone EP. Ethernet 2 hits the internet on June 28th via Alamo/Interscope.
Ethernet 2 arrives ahead of wifi’s “Free Weef Tour,“ a headlining national tour spanning this summer. Presented by The Living Dead, the tour starts on July 11th in Seattle, passes through Los Angeles on July 18th (Los Globos) and Brooklyn on August 1st (Kingsland), before wrapping up with four hometown shows in Florida from August 8th-11th. With supporting performances from Camp Yola and #2Stoned, the “Free Weef Tour” is wifi’s second national tour of the year, following the “Conn3t3d Tour” with Robb Bank$.
