The Stolen in Atlanta at The Masquerade

Written By | Andres Piedrahita

This being my first my first time at the masquerade, sadly wasn’t able to go the old before they tore it down. I was pretty happy with the set up. It was a small venue, but still spacious.

When I entered the venue, the first opener called All the Rest were doing sound checks, which I’ve never seen before prior to a show. Sadly, they only had a 20-minute time slot, but I must say during their set, they played really well!!

The second opener was called States & Capitol. I haven’t heard of their music but was pleased with what had played. The mood from both was very well matched and helped boost up the crowd for the main band called The Stolen.

When The Stolen came on, the entire room went insane! Their set was much longer than their openers which is normal. During their first few songs, I notice there were a group of girls that were singing each and every lyric the lead singer was singing. Come to find they were super fans of The Stolen. During one of the breaks, the lead singer asked where they’re from and they said New Jersey (as was the lead singer), but come to everyone’s surprise they actually Uber from Tennessee just to see them again.

I must say that is going to be a great story to tell their children when they get older. The Stolen set was honestly beautiful because I am a huge form of alternative & indie style music. Always a great moment when they play a great song that you enjoy the most, too. At the end of the show, I had a chance to talk a bit with the lead singer and he was excited to meet me which I was completely caught off guard because it should be the other way around. Anyway, after chatting with him a bit, I got to meet the rest and say my goodbyes to them as well as giving them thanks for letting me photograph their set. Must say The Stolen is definitely going to be an indie band that is going to move through the ranks!
