The 1017 Eskimo Signee Brings to Life a Highlight From His Recent Iceburg Mixtape with a Qasquiat-Directed Visual

Flashing a versatile vocal delivery and a penchant for streetwise flexes, Yung Mal is on the fast track to stardom. Defiantly living his best life and paying tribute to the Zone 6 hood that raised him, Mal shares “Trayvon,” his new video. With a titular tribute to a famous fallen peer (Trayvon Martin and Yung Mal were born in the same year), “Trayvon” finds Mal stretching his melodic muscles, alternating his more familiar thumping bars with a raspy croon: “I stay down, my money long/B*tch, I’m flyer than a drone/I get high, stay in my zone.” Directed by Qasquiat, the new video finds Mal mobbing with homies in a dramatically-lit warehouse, rocking a hoodie in homage to Trayvon Martin himself. “Trayvon” is the latest video from IceburgMal’s debut solo mixtape, which dropped last week.

Perfecting his laid-back, but in-your-face style of trap music, Mal impressed with Iceburg, delivering a 15-track treatise on why he’s the man: “Hop off a jet, go straight to a check/Make that Hellcat make a mess/B*tch, I’m rich, I’m not pressed.” The new mixtape is headlined by Mal’s successful run of singles, including the speaker-knocking lyrical exercise #’s, the Gucci Mane-featuring, Complex-premiered “Fresh”, and the eccentric slapper “Action,” featuring Lil GotIt, produced by Pi’erre Bourne, and premiered by HYPEBEAST.

Known for his work with fellow Zone 6 resident and 1017 signee Lil Quill, Mal specializes in triplet rhymes and top-level stunting. Signed to Gucci Mane’s 1017 Eskimo label, Yung Mal is ready to take the next step into household name status. Featuring additional appearances from Gunna, King Von, Lil Quill, and more, Iceburg is available to stream everywhere via 1017 Eskimo/Alamo Records.
