Hard to believe it’s been a year (October 12) since British-born R&B songwriter, Ella Mai, released her history-making, self-titled debut. Propelled by the Grammy Award-winning hit single, “Boo’d Up,” the now-platinum album entered the Billboard Top 200 at an impressive #5 and has also sold more units than any other female debut R&B artist in over five years.

Moreover, Ella Mai is the first UK artist to reach #1 on the US R&B Singles chart since 1992. In fact, she did that in triplicate on the R&B/Hip-Hop airplay charts with “Boo’d Up” (5x Platinum), “Trip” (2x Platinum) and “Shot Clock” (Platinum), the only singer to accomplish that feat since Beyoncé in 2012. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) also certified the album’s bonus track “Naked” (Platinum) and “Whatchamacalit” (Gold).

The 23-year-old singer-songwriter already has an impressive list of accomplishments despite being in the industry for a short time, and she always finds time to pay it forward by promoting other rising artists. She regularly tweets out support for such contemporaries as Ari Lennox, Summer Walker and Lucky Daye, and hopped on a track with newcomer, Mahalia, who she also took on tour along with Victoria Monet, Jvck James and Kiana Lede.

With 3.6 billion global streams and another 2.6 billion stateside, things won’t be slowing down for Ella Mai anytime soon. Her “Boo’d Up” single remains the longest-running #1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay charts by a woman this decade. Forbes magazine included her in their “30 Under 30” list and she is currently on the road in Europe opening for Ariana Grande’s The Sweetner World Tour.

The critically acclaimed album Ella Mai is available on digital platforms worldwide via 10 Summers/Interscope Records.
