Danny Félix, the “architect of the tumbado sound,” continues as a leading innovator in the Regional Mexican music scene with the release of the seven-song EP ‘Mariachi Tumbado.’ Featuring a new subgenre that craftly combines both traditional mariachi instrumentation and guitar and chord arrangements typical of corridos tumbados, Mariachi Tumbado breaks both musical and geographical boundaries.
The new EP includes four previously released songs: “Mariachi Tumbado” featuring Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, “Mentiras” featuring Neto Bernal, “Con Sinceridad” and “Déjame Llevarte” featuring El Bebeto. It also includes three previously unreleased songs – “Adiós,” “Reflexiona” and “¿Con Quién?” ‘Mariachi Tumbado’’s focus song “¿Con Quién?” features Colombian music star Yeison Jimenez and includes a captivating music video. The EP also includes a surprise—a new version of “Mariachi Tumbado” featuring additional mariachi arrangements.
Danny is a musical innovator who is both curious and not afraid to take risks. After thinking for a long time about how he could create a fusion between corridos tumbados and mariachi, he began by first composing guitar lines followed by romantic lyrics that added the perfect mariachi touch. The result is the mariachi tumbado subgenre, which has been widely received with enthusiasm for its singular approach to Regional Mexican music.
Named the “Latin Artist to Watch 2021” by both Pandora and Billboard, Danny Félix became the pioneer and leader of the new musical style called corridos tumbados or trap corridos. His composition style includes but is not limited to writing through the musical lens of the regional Mexican genre while incorporating hip-hop elements.
