ALI GATIE RELEASES CONTEMPLATIVE NEW SINGLE “MALIBU”

Multi-Platinum artist Ali Gatie releases “Malibu” via Warner Records, a laidback anthem outlining a complex love triangle. With stripped-down production and a lilting-lullaby chorus, the mellow earworm casts a spell that is as enchanting as its seaside namesake. To mark the track’s release, Gatie also drops a video that lends stunning imagery to his maritime metaphors.

“She loves Paris and you love Malibu,” Gatiesings over a strummed acoustic guitar. “She wants to fly with me, I just wanna walk with you.” While one romantic option offers security, the other promises excitement: “Your love’s an ocean that I don’t know how to swim, if I let my guard down then your waves will pull me in.” Despite the turmoil at the heart of “Malibu,” it’s still any easy-breezy charmer, made for sunset drives.

In the track’s visualizer, Gatie delivers the tender number — clad in white — walking along the beach. Spliced throughout the video are images of ocean waves coursing backward, away from the shore. They are a fitting image to coincide with the singer’s lyrical admission that, sometimes, he wishes he could go back in time and do things differently. Watch it HERE. 

The track follows March’s “Seasonal Love” and February’s “All Comes Back to You” — Gatie’s only releases since dropping his WHO HURT YOU? DELUXE LP — a souped-up iteration of his acclaimed debut album that includes the moody kiss-off “Selfish” and minimalist cyberlove ballad “Innocent,” both of which he previously teased on TikTok. There’s also the sweet acoustic number “If I Fall in Love,” recorded over two years ago, finally given its proper release.

With a knack for fusing R&B and pop, Gatie has quickly become one of music’s most incisive singer-songwriters. His songs have garnered more than 4.4 billion global streams and he boasts more than 2.8 million TikTok followers. The crooner has also surpassed the 1 billion-view mark on YouTube. Alongside his solo successes, he has also collaborated with artists like Ty Dolla $ign, Alessia Cara, Tate McCrae, Marshmello, and MAX. 

The warmer months are nearly here and, with “Malibu,” Gatie has an early Song of the Summer contender.
