Ashe has shared her latest new music video for, “Love Is Not Enough,” from her acclaimed new debut album Ashlyn, out now on Mom + Pop Music. Watch “Love Is Not Enough” HERE and stream/download Ashlyn HERE. The track was co-written by Ashe, Taylor Goldsmith of celebrated band Dawes, Leroy “Big Taste” Clampitt and Sean Douglas, and produced by Clampitt (Justin Bieber, Lennon Stella). The video made its premiere at an invitation-only event at LA’s Winston House on August 5th, where Ashe also performed an intimate, acoustic set. The new video comes on the heels of Ashe’s triumphant performance at Lollapalooza last week.
The beautiful new music video for “Love Is Not Enough” was directed by Jason Lester (LAUV, Conan Gray) who also directed Ashe’s striking video for “Me Without You.” Conceptualized by Ashe, the clip was filmed at the exquisite Million Dollar Theatre in LA and follows Ashe through a colorful and elegantly choreographed dance sequence. Reminiscent of John Cassavetes and other mid-70’s American indie cinema, the video showcases large-scale emotions and unfolds as a compelling narrative with style and grace. Despite its old-time sensibility, the clip also allows Ashe’s originality and contemporary style to shine.
The deeply personal song is infused with a delicate balance of dreamy sensitivity and hard-won insight. Ashe comments, “’Love Is Not Enough’ is about the fact that ultimately, although love is so important and it’s the thing we dream most about, there’s so much more that goes into a successful relationship: respect, which is a huge one to me. It is really appreciating the other person. I think that when I was younger and I fell in love, I thought that’s all you needed. And now I don’t think it’s all you need. I think there’s a lot more that goes into making love last.”
