Atlanta Ballet Presents Yuri Possokhov’s Don Quixote

ATLANTA – Marking the first production of 2018, Atlanta Ballet will present internationally renowned choreographer Yuri Possokhov’s Don Quixote for two
weekends at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. From Friday, February 2, to Saturday, February 10, audiences can enjoy this “altogether enchanting piece of dance theater” (Chicago Sun-Times) that blends exquisite choreography with an often humorous, swashbuckling tale.

Based on the famous novel by Miguel de Cervantes, Don Quixote is a beloved classical ballet story that follows the intertwined journeys of two young lovers and a fantastical man of La Mancha as he battles imaginary dragons, saves damsels in distress, and encounters a colorful cast of characters. Set in the sun-drenched Spanish countryside, this firecracker of a production features bold choreography and a rich story line that will captivate audiences from start to finish.

Possokhov’s production is infused with flourishes of Spanish culture, featuring guitars,
passioned street dancers and brave toreadors in vibrant costumes with a setting to match. Through its lavish staging and a dramatic score, Don Quixote will transport audiences to a world where romance, adventure, and dreams take center stage. The ballet is set to the music of Ludwig Minkus, and performed live with Atlanta Ballet Orchestra.
