Common, With PJ + Black Thought, Performs “Say Peace” on Fallon

Last night, Common performed his timely new track “Say Peace,” joined by PJ and Black Thought of The Roots, on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. It’s vintage Common: Punctuated by protest footage, Common and Black Thought unspool an unsparing depiction of America’s political situation.
“Say Peace” comes from Common’s new project A Beautiful Revolution Pt. 1, which has already been hailed as a “complex and compelling” (Rolling Stone) new collection that “very gracefully spans decades of Black music,” while bridging “different generations of civil rights movements together” (NPR Music). Michelle Obama featured “A Place In This World,” a track from the new project, in her “When We All Vote” initiative. Check out a special shout out from the former First Lady here.
In the days leading up to the election, Common has appeared at get out the vote events in battleground states like Florida, Pennsylvania, and Georgia. He was also interviewed for Showtime political program The Circus. Watch the episode here.
