Indie electronic trio Elder Island reveal the nostalgic new video for their latest single “Purely Educational” and prepare to launch brand new pairs game (“Pairly Educational”) reminiscent of childhood memories.

A song about parties in a time without, the “Purely Educational” video fittingly follows solo dancer Bethany Kyle in a playful game of imagination and intimacy. Spinning underneath the disco ball of a traditional community hall, she deftly switches personas to embody various dancefloor personalities as the camera performs its own dance alongside her. With a ‘one-take’ approach to the cinematography, her infectious buoyancy culminates in a celebratory dynamic stage performance. Perfectly reflecting the personality of the track, the video nods to a listless present mixed with nervous excitement for the return of late nights, and live shows.

Speaking about the new video, Elder Island explain: “Working with Nic Kane we wanted to create something that reflected the playful qualities of “Purely Educational” as a track. With a hint of nostalgia and a fair few sequins the video achieves this perfectly.”

Director Nic Kane elaborates: “Capturing the playfulness of the track we created a glitzy dress-up and dance daydream at a time without parties to celebrate the nights gone by and remain hopeful for the future. A single take for a solo character, with only the camera to dance with. The video is a nod to parties at a time without.
