FITO PAEZ & ÁNGELA AGUILAR “BRILLANTE SOBRE EL MIC”

First Single From His Upcoming Album Available Here

Fito Paez releases a brand-new version of his song “Brillante sobre el mic”, featuring the young singer Ángela Aguilar.

With a diaphanous voice and fresh image, the artist gives her own twist to this unforgettable song, the one the Argentinian star dedicated to Fabiana Cantilo more than 30 years ago, in his emblematic album “El amor después del amor”.

As he had already announced, Fito revisited one of the masterpieces in his successful career. An album that marked many generations of music lovers throughout every Hispanic speaking country, which still generates passion to this day, as well as his international tour has been proving since 2022. Recently It brought together more than 70,000 people on two nights at Vélez Sarsfield Stadium, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The new 2023 version of this album will be released in late May. Paez invited the daughter of the popular Mexican singer song-writer Pepe Aguilar, an up-and-coming artist on her own right, to join him, showcasing a great artistic chemistry between them.

Fito talks about Ángela:

“I met Ángela Aguilar at the Latin Grammy’s several years ago. She appeared alone in front of the microphone before an auditorium full of people. I didn’t know anything about her. She started singing an a capella version of ‘La Llorona’. On the second verse, everyone present seemed hypnotized by her, and this young, talented Mexican artist was able to immerse us all into a chilling silence that resembled a David Lynch film. Unforgettable. Years later, I reached out to invite her to sing ‘Yo Vengo a Ofrecer mi Corazón’ at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, and I was lucky enough that she agreed. She dazzled everyone in the audience once again. Today, we are here together in a new version of ‘Brillante sobre el mic’ in the context of the recording of my next album. When I listened to the mix, I couldn’t help but get emotional when listening to the melody by her voice, singing those words I once dedicated to one of the people I love most in the world: Fabiana Cantilo. I hope you enjoy this extraordinary version performed live by a group of amazing musicians, recording altogether in East West Studios, L.A. Thank you Ángela for your interpretation and dedication.”

In the video, directed by the Argentinian based in México, Diego Álvarez (Platforma), we see Fito interact with Ángela, in a casual encounter during an art exhibition, where among many paintings and photographies the one that stands out is a portrait of his muse, Fabi.

This is how Fito touches everyone’s heart once again, making us really feel that “time is a fleeting effect” “el tiempo es un efecto fugaz”, as the song’s lyrics sing. The full album is soon to be released, but in the meantime, this new version of “Brillante sobre el mic” leaves us wanting more.
