HOPE TALA KICKS OFF THE YEAR WITH STUNNING NEW SINGLE “PARTY SICKNESS”
Hot on the heels of her well received recent single “Tiptoeing,” West London-based polymath Hope Tala continues her prolific streak with the reveal of her stunning new single “Party Sickness”—listen HERE. A track perfect for soundtracking early year blues, “Party Sickness” sees Hope Tala lay her beautifully poised vocals over gorgeous production in a manner only she can. Arriving with a visually stunning video directed by Loris Russier (Audrey Nuna, Ella Mai), the track serves to build further excitement around this ever-rising talent. Having gained acclaim from areas such as BBC Radio 1, Billboard, Consequence, Dazed, HYPEBEAST, NME, Rolling Stone, SPIN, The Guardian, TMRW Magazine, and more, Hope Tala looks set to continue to craft her distinctive path in 2022.
Speaking on the track, Hope states:
“The concept of ‘Party Sickness’ is all about having fun and being a bit messy. A big part of my inspiration for the song was an astrology meme that categorised the different elements into their behavioural roles at parties; it said water signs were the best leading actors in a drama (I’m a Scorpio.) I wanted it to be an anthem for people who consider themselves to be the life and soul of the party.”
Having recently toured the US with Alina Baraz, Hope Tala recently announced a headline show in London at Village Underground on March 9th. Tickets go on sale this Friday, February 4th at 9am GMT at https://www.hopetala.com/.
Now, she enters 2022 as one of the most exciting names around. Boasting fans as esteemed as Barack Obama and having her striking cut “All My Girls Like To Fight” featured in the Gossip Girl relaunch, Hope has been steadily building more steam, racking up over 30 million streams in the process. Working with legendary producers both in the UK and US (Greg Kurstin, Paul Epworth), the next months will see Hope Tala further cement herself as one of the brightest lights coming out of the UK.
Music has surrounded Hope for as long as she can remember. Every Saturday growing up, she attended music school, learning the clarinet and performing in orchestras and wind bands. As part of an audio class, she learned Logic, and at 14-years-old, she taught herself guitar. Upon gaining proficiency with recording, she uploaded “Peace Freestyle” to Soundcloud in 2016. Following a post by Instagram creative platform Art Hoe Collective, Illegal Civilization founder Mikey Alfred discovered the track and spun it on Pharrell’s Apple Music Beats 1 radio show. This recognition made Hope realize she “could pursue music as more than just a hobby.” 2018 saw the release of her Starry Ache EP, and she released her Sensitive Soul EP a year later. “Jealous,” “Anywhere,” and “D.T.M.” each gained traction on DSPs, as “Lovestained” eclipsed 18.2 million streams. Rolling Stone placed the latter at #8 on its “50 Best Songs of 2019.” Everything paved the way for Girl Eats Sun EP, released in 2020. 2021 saw Hope continue to make impressive strides forward, connecting with the legendary Paul Epworth on “MAD,” and with Greg Kurstin on “Tiptoeing,” a track which was chosen as BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record In the World and amassed over 3 million streams globally. Continuing to work with huge names both in the UK and US, Hope looks set for a breakthrough year.
With plenty more on the way, Keep a close eye on Hope Tala over the next few months.
