Khruangbin makes headlining sold-out two night Radio City debut
After having opened for Leon Bridges at the venue in 2018, and released two collaborative EPs with the R&B auteur in the meantime — the chart-topping Texas Sun and Texas Moon companions – touring the world, playing virtually every major festival and venue in the states, Khruangbin also released a studio album and remix collection ahead of the two out-of-this-world evenings at the legendary venue.
They played classic cuts from across their ever-expanding discography, Mordechai highlights “First Class” and “So We Won’t Forget,” the band’s own rendition of Kool & The Gang‘s “Summer Madness,” and their signature hip-hop medley opened with David Bowie‘s “Let’s Dance” and ended with Chris Isaak‘s “Wicked Game,” with tributes to MF DOOM, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg and Elton John. SPIN Magazine said the set design looks “like George Clinton’s Mothership had time-warped from the ’70s and made a landing, delivering a funk offspring,” and they’ll tour through the Summer.
