KROQ hosted a St. Patrick’s Day event at the Hollywood Palladium with performances by Matt Heckler, Face to Face, and Flogging Molly. People gathered outside the Palladium drinking beer, enjoying the food trucks, and live music. A highlight of the night was a 100 year old veteran drinking a cup of beer.
The Hollywood Palladium is located off of Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood, CA. The two leveled flooring gives the stage an easier view for guests along with premium seating upstairs in the large indoor balcony. They have a full bar down stairs and in seat dining upstairs at the balcony in the premium seating.
The first opener was named Matt Heckler, who is a fiddle player who created his own style of music. He used to travel with a band called Deep Chatman for almost 5 years until venturing out on his own. Matt just released his first full length album called ‘After the Flood.’ His song writing is incredible and the way he captured the audience’s attention was remarkable.
The second opener was a band called Face to Face, a California Pop Punk Band. The band originally formed back in 1991 and rose to fame in 1995. Near the end of 2004 the band unfortunately split up and worked on separate projects. They eventually got back together in 2008 and have been together ever since. The way they played on stage seemed like they never had a break. Their music was upbeat, entertaining, and a blast from the past.
To end the night, Flogging Molly captured the crowd with their energy. Flogging Molly is an Irish – American Celtic Punk band that was formed in mid to late 90’s. Their band name Flogging Molly came from the Los Angeles pub Molly Malone’s, where they used to perform. Their music style is influenced by artists such as Johnny Cash, The Dubliners, and Green Day. Once they hit the stage, their energy never died. They always had a smile on their face, constantly interacting with the crowd. Everyone was jumping up and down, crowd surfing, and beer throwing.
