LAFC EARNS 4-3 VICTORY OVER ATLANTA UNITED FC ON FRIDAY NIGHT

The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) earned a thrilling 4-3 win over reigning MLS Cup champions, Atlanta United FC on Friday night at a sold-out Banc of California Stadium. Four different LAFC players found the back of the net, as the Club extended its home unbeaten streak to 10 regular season games in 2019.

Six of the seven goals came in a wild first half with the visitors opening the scoresheet just two minutes into the match via Mohammed Adams. Moments after the half-hour mark, forward Adama Diomande would tie things up for the Black & Gold, tallying his seventh of the season. LAFC would tack on three more goals via Diego Rossi (38’), Carlos Vela (42’), and Eduard Atuesta (45’), before Atlanta forward Josef Martinez cut LAFC’s lead to two shortly before the half.

Atlanta would score their third of the night six minutes after the restart after defender Eddie Segura deflected a cross into his own net. Despite a flurry of chances for both sides, LAFC would take all three points, winning its ninth game at home and 15th overall in the season.

Next up for LAFC (15-3-4; 49 points) is a cross country road match against Eastern Conference side New England Revolution on Saturday, August 3. The Week 22 contest is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on YouTube TV, UniMás 46, ESPN 710 AM and KFWB 980 AM.
