Lexus LX 600 and Cosmopolitan tackle 2023 Rebelle Rally
Since its launch in 1995, the Lexus LX has been a luxury SUV icon. Its comfortable ride quality and long list of amenities have defined it as a luxurious long-range cruiser, yet its tried-and-tested off-road specifications and equipment have taken it beyond the pavement in more than 50 countries and regions around the globe.
This year, the LX 600 will show its true off-road prowess in the Rebelle Rally, a thrilling women’s only off-road navigational competition spanning 1,400+ desert miles over eight days through California and Nevada. Driving the LX will be experienced automotive journalist Mara Balagtas McIlwrath and her partner Mia Lardiere, who has been tasked with navigating them through the mentally and physically grueling competition.
From October 12-21, the rally will test the driving prowess and sheer endurance of teams angling to get across a distant finish line. The rally is not a race for speed but a unique and demanding event that requires competitors to navigate using only a map and compass, without the use of GPS or electronic devices.
Mara and Mia will write about their experience in the Rebelle Rally in the days following on social media, with additional editorial content posted in Cosmopolitan and Car & Driver.
