Recruiting the Bay Area’s Lil Pete and Detroit’s FMB DZ, San Francisco rapper Lil Yee shares “Sacrifice,” a searing new single. The track kicks off with a verse from DZ, who reflects, “stayed down until I got it right, I wasn’t living right,” before Yee comes in with a smooth and plaintive hook and Lil Pete (who happens to be Lil Yee’s cousin) declares his loyalty to his family, willing to sacrifice anything.
Lil Yee recently announced his upcoming album, Live 4 It, Die 4 It, boasting production from Zaytoven (Future, Usher, Gucci Mane), and features from Mozzy, E-40, FMB DZ, and a posthumous verse from The Jacka. Lil Yee raps about the adversity he’s faced — the loss of several close family members, like his older cousin, his mom, and another mother figure in his life shortly after. In 2015, he accepted a plea deal for back-to-back gun charges that meant turning his life around and staying off the streets. He also found out he was going to be a father of twin daughters, motivating Yee further to channel his energy into rap. The culmination is Live 4 It, Die 4 It, due 3/22 via G-Affair/EMPIRE.
