Blue haired Bay Area native singer/ songwriter lilspirit has released a new single, “nobody else”, out now on 10K Projects/ Internet Money Records. Produced Omer Fedi (Ella Mai, 24KGoldn, Trevor Daniel), the acoustic ballad highlights 19-year-old lilspirit’s dreamy vocals and deep-seated songwriting. Check it out HERE.
““nobody else” is mainly about an old girl from my past”, says lilspirit. “She constantly pulled me in and out of her mind games until I finally realized that I was fine on my own. Me and Omer made this song the first time we met; I walked in and he was playing something on guitar that caught my attention. Within 20 minutes the song was written and I was ready to record.”
lilspirit’s December released single “droptopbitch”, currently sits at over 8 million SoundCloud plays and features an accompanying music video shot by Nicholas Jandora (Arizona Zervas, blackbear, lil skies).
Born Geno Gitas, lilspirit grew up in the Bay Area and started playing piano as a little kid, later taking up guitar and drums. At age 14, he began producing his own music using GarageBand and beats lifted from YouTube, mining inspiration from SoundCloud’s prolific underground rap generation. After dropping out mid-way through high school, lilspirit headed down to LA where he continued working on his own material, increasingly tapping into his incredible talent for crafting melodies.
Last October, lilspirit uploaded his self-produced single “Ugly” to SoundCloud; the stark R&B-pop song, which speaks on the unapologetic truth about a toxic relationship, contributed to an exponential growth in lilspirit’s following, and he signed with 10K Projects and Internet Money Records. In addition to “droptopbitch” and “Ugly,” lilspirit has seen success with one of his most emotionally complex songs yet, “Come Home,” which brings his quietly powerful vocals to an acoustic-guitar-driven portrait of obsession and destruction.
