On the heels of amassing over 21 billion career streams to date, multi-platinum rapper, singer/songwriter, producer and best-selling author RUSS releases today his deeply personal and introspective new album SANTIAGO.
On this album, Russ artfully blends his signature hip-hop and R&B sounds taking listeners on a journey of finding self-love and self- discovery after various trials and tribulations that he’s faced in the music industry as he remains true to himself as an independent artist. Russ has fully been at the helm of the strategy and creative for the album, both musically and visually, self-funding all parts of the project and rollout. Throughout all aspects he is showing vulnerability in allowing fans to be fully immersed in his universe that he so passionately worked to create on his own. The album marks the first release under Russ’ newly formed partnership with Larry Jackson and gamma.
“SANTIAGO is an album that is loosely inspired by the book “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho,” says Russ. “It’s my journey to self love and self mastery while touching on the obstacles that have provided resistance along the way… Feelings of emptiness, inadequacy, imposter syndrome, anger, issues from my childhood and how they’ve shown up in my adult life, etc. It’s the most vulnerable music I’ve ever made and I had to do a lot of excavations to make it. It was a confronting experience and I hope it resonates with people who are trying to navigate the obstacles on their own journey.”
Fans across the world had the chance to experience an intimate and exclusive first listen to SANTIAGO leading up to release in several locations including the Californian desert and Russ’ hometown of Atlanta, GA. Tonight, Russ will premiere the short film SANTIAGO for the first time at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio, TX. The short film will have a global debut in theaters in the coming weeks.
