OURI SHARES NEW SINGLE “TWIN”
SUPPORTING YAEJI ON NORTH AMERICA TOUR THIS MAY
Montreal-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Ouri shares her first drop of 2023 with a new single “Twin.” Bright and blissful, the track confronts the touchy subject of curiosity over a lover’s past. The song explores the undeniable feelings that come up when diving into these exciting and forbidden stories together proposing the question « and what do you think about me ? ». Ouri describes how the song came together noting, “I was driving everyday, screaming/singing in the car my new song to my love, while listening to Vegyn & Danny L Harle’s ‘Britnaey’s New Baby.’ To the point where I couldn’t imagine the song without the sample.”
Ouri will also be heading out on a string of tour dates this May supporting Yaeji, including stops in Chicago, Toronto, and two nights in New York. The tour follows her dates with Tirzah and Smerz and you can find the full tour routing below.
The new single comes after her highly praised debut album Frame of a Fauna was shortlisted for the Polaris Prize. The project features the standout tracks “High & Choking Pt 1,” “Chains,” and “Fonction Naturelle.” The FADER described the album as “a richly rewarding left turn.” The new song also follows a joint project with Helena Deland titled Hildegard, which Pitchfork hailed as “pure creative symbiosis.”
Ouri’s musical journey began when she moved to Montreal from France at just 16 with the dream of becoming a composer. As she developed her compositional ability, as well as her production and vocal chops, she became a fixture in Montreal’s underground rave scene and was eventually selected to take part in Red Bull Music Academy’s Montreal Bass Camp. From there, her profile began to grow as she headlined Boiler Room’s Montreal showcase, toured with the likes of Yves Tumor and Jacques Greene (who also more recently remixed Ouri’s track “High & Choking”), and released her first EPs Superficial and We Share Our Blood. With her latest single “Twin” and her upcoming tour with Yaeji, Ouri continues to cement her status as one of the most exciting and innovative artists in the experimental music scene.
