S. Carey remix of Jenny Owen Youngs’ “Dungeons and Dragons”

NEW EP ECHO MOUNTAIN OUT NOW!

Jenny Owen Youngs is excited to share the S. Carey remix of “Dungeons and Dragons”, a track from her recently released EP Echo Mountain. The new take on the song is an arresting counterweight to the more bouncy interpolation from Generationals released last month. “I feel like Sean found a way to pull the song into an even deeper, darker cavern, so appropriate for the lyric,” says Youngs. “But he also maintained a very human warmth throughout, via the addition of lush layers and a tiny excerpt of dreamy D&D gameplay right at the end. You can practically feel the torchlight glinting off the dice.”

“[Echo Mountain] sets a mood throughout,” wrote Stereogum of Youngs’ latest EP, “soft and meditative and warm, suggesting Youngs is still going strong a decade and a half into her career.” The EP details the messiness of life, with songs steeped in a hesitant nostalgia for the alternatingly carefree and unsettlingly uncertain times of our childhood and teens. Including of course, memories of game nights, both fond and fraught.

Echo Mountain follows last year’s release of Youngs’ Night Shift (Extended Edition) EP which features songs produced by Ethan Gruska (Phoebe Bridgers’ Punisher, Fiona Apple’s Fetch The Bolt Cutters) and Jake Sinclair (Taylor Swift, Weezer, Panic! At The Disco). The incredibly prolific musician has also recently been splitting her time between writing for herself and composing 17 original songs with co-host Kristin Russo for “Once More With Once More, With Feeling” the just released all musical episode of their popular Buffy The Vampire Slayer podcast Buffering The Vampire.
