SWAVAY DROPS ‘GO SHORTY’ NEW SINGLE OUT TODAY VIA DEF JAM RECORDINGS / GIANT MUSIC

ANNOUNCES ALBUM ALMETHA’S SON SET TO RELEASE OCTOBER 21, 2022

REVEALS TRACKLIST WITH GUEST FEATURES BY JAMES BLAKE, G HERBO, AND DESTIN CONRAD

SwaVay, a native of Atlanta’s bubbling rap scene, drops his newest single ‘GO SHORTY’ available via Def Jam Recordings/Giant Music. This release follows SwaVay’s recent singles “JUGG” and “FACES.” SwaVay’s forthcoming album ALMETHA’S SON, featuring guest appearances from James Blake, GHerbo and more, is set to release on October 21, 2022.

SwaVay in his own words:

“How many more times can I tell you I love you before you get it, how many more times can you injure my heart before you split it” this is me having a conversation with music,”  SwaVay said. I’ve been through so much trying to get even the slightest break with music; and more than you can imagine, the only advice I get is to keep going or go shorty.”

Powered by hard-earned confidence that his own genre-traversing style is ready for hip-hop’s – and music’s – biggest stages, SwaVay arrives at the industry’s #1 hip-hop destination with the depth and dexterity that is typical of Dogwood City’s greatest.  His brand of soulful trap fusion has earned cosigns and collaborations from artists across genres and sounds, from multi-platinum producer Metro Boomin to U.K. pop/electronic/R&B auteur James Blake.

In 2019, SwaVay shared a Grammy® nomination for his contribution to “Elevate” (with DJ KhalilCordaeDenzel Curry, and Trevor Rich), from the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack.  In 2021, SwaVay appeared on “Frozen” (with Dreamville Records’ J.I.D), a track from Blake’s LP, Friends That Break Your Heart.

Inspired by the likes of Kendrick LamarJ. Cole, and Drake, as well as golden-era greats like Jay-ZNas, and Snoop Dogg – SwaVay dropped his first solo, Poet Talk (2012), while still in school.  More indie releases followed, including TRVPLANTA (2015), and Before Eye Die (2016), as SwaVay found his place amid Atlanta’s competitive trap scene. SwaVay’s malleability and persistence paid off in 2017, when super-producer Metro Boomin signed him as the first artist on his then-fledgling Boominati Worldwide label.  Working with Metro, the multi-talented SwaVay dropped his breakout mixtape, Pure Infinity (2019), a vulnerable release full of kaleidoscopic soundscapes, empathetic themes, and sharp lyricism.
