Kobalt Signs Childish Gambino

Kobalt, a music and technology company built for artists, songwriters, publishers and labels as an alternative to the traditional music business model, announced that it has signed Grammy award winning, actor, comedian, writer, director, producer, singer, songwriter, rapper, and DJ, Donald Glover, a.k.a., Childish Gambino. The worldwide agreement includes publishing administration, including global synch and creative support services, for all of Childish Gambino’s future songs after the Awaken, My Love! album. In addition, Kobalt has signed Wolf + Rothstein, Glover’s musical teams of collective songwriters and artists for publishing administration, global synch and creative support services.

Said Kobalt Music SVP, Creative, Al McLean, of the deal, “Donald is one of those rare multi-talented artists who can do it all. It’s an honor to sign Donald and Wolf + Rothstein Collective to the Kobalt family.”

Emmy-, Golden Globe-, and Grammy-winning actor, writer, comedian, DJ, and rapper Donald Glover broke into pop culture mainstream first on the hit TV sitcom Community after serving on the writing staff of both The Daily Show and 30 Rock. In August 2011, he signed to Glassnote Records under his rap moniker Childish Gambino and has since released two albums. Glover also currently stars in the FX series Atlanta, which he also created and occasionally directs.

Operating out of Temple Studios in Los Angeles, Wolf + Rothstein is the creative agency comprised of Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Donald Glover, Wolf Taylor, and Fam Rothstein, all whom worked with the band that helped compose the critically acclaimed Awaken My Love! Released December 2, 2017, Awaken My Love! and the chart-topping hit single “Redbone” are nominated for five Grammy Awards: Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Traditional R&B Performance (winner), Best R&B Song, and Best Urban Contemporary Album. Childish Gambino is set to perform on Saturday Night Live on May 5, 2018.

“Wolf and Rothstein is excited to partner with Kobalt for publishing,” said Wolf Taylor of Wolf + Rothstein. “We’re looking forward to growing the roster together.”

You can make yourself a fancy cup of tea in this concept Mercedes Maybach SUV

The car comes with a bespoke tea set and a heated tray

The 2018 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition is currently running in China, and Mercedes has unveiled a new concept high-end luxury SUV at the event. The Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury SUV features a spacious interior, and there’s even a bespoke tea set hidden in the car’s console. The car is sleek, cherry red, and aimed at the Chinese market, where the color red symbolizes happiness, luck, and joy.

The model is conceived as being fully electric, with all-wheel drive and four seats (one driver and three passengers). Mercedes says the system allows a charging capacity of up to 350kW, and with five minutes of charging, the car will have an additional range of 62 miles (100km). It can be charged by cable or through induction.

The seats are positioned significantly higher than in other SUVs. Mercedes said that came from a desire of many of its customers for a “feeling of protection and security.” The white seats are made from nappa leather, and the interior accents are rose gold. The exterior front plate also features the chrome-plated radiator grilles that were first debuted on the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 in 2016.

The vehicle has double 12.3-inch displays for the driver, a touchscreen and touchpad on the center console, and touch control buttons on the steering wheel. There is also the capability for voice control, and Mercedes says the system adjusts to the user’s voice and adapts to new words used.

The company says the design mixes influences from the Western and Far Eastern hemispheres. It also incorporates Chinese design elements like ebony, which Mercedes says is known as “Magic Wood” often used in Chinese furniture. The tea set, which includes a teapot and cups, is made of china, and the sculpted wooden tray is made of ebony. The console is equipped with an integrated heated tray so you can happily drink tea without worrying about where to boil water. You can access the tea set by pressing a button which electronically reveals it. Mercedes says there are also a variety of teas available and “relaxation programs” for passengers sitting in the back.

Tea

According to Mercedes, the car is smart enough to “act with anticipation” and can play music to match your current mood and plan routes according to your appointments. The car also features Mercedes’ Energizing Control, a wellness tool that systematically controls the vehicle’s climate control system and seats to optimize comfort for the driver and passengers. The system controls how cool or warm the car is, fragrances released, music played, and heating, ventilation, and massage functions in the seats.

The concept car is the definition of extra. But if you have the money, why not enjoy life and tea while driving? There’s no indication yet of when these features might make it into a real vehicle, though.

Sony Debuts Virtual Reality Mapping Technology in Groundbreaking Music Video at SXSW

It’s the first time the tech was used in a music video

Written By | Ann-Marie Alcántara

Sony closed out its week-long activation at South by Southwest with some fluffy clouds, a cash bar, special musical performances and a new type of virtual reality experience.

The second half of Sony’s activation, which ran from March 15-16, concluded with the debut of artist Khalid’s “Young, Dumb and Broke” VR music video. For the first time in a music video, VR projection mapping technology was used. The technique enhances VR with 360-degree “stereoscopic” images, making it possible to display images on objects within the experience. In this case, Khalid’s original video, “Young, Dumb and Broke,” is being projected onto different aspects within the video, like the ocean and planets.

“This idea of using projection mapping inside a virtual world was something that was created through an original Sony interactive entertainment engine,” said Miki Anan, senior manager, entertainment partnerships at Sony.

Visitors who came to Sony’s “Lost in Music” event put on Playstation VR headsets and were first guided through the company’s “acoustic vessel odyssey,” an audio journey with an immersive sound experience. The audio and light show included a whopping 576 speakers, as well as a unique light installation created by digital artists, Kimchi and Chips.

After seeing, hearing and taking plenty of Instagram-worthy photos, guests then entered the “dreamscape” room, where they could watch the new VR video and get some drinks. They were also treated to performances by artists Tinashe, A.CHAL, Leikeli47, Olivia Noelle and, at the end, Khalid himself.

Sony worked with agency Ralph to come up with the creative for the event, using Mission to put the production together.

We wanted to bring together a completely new type of immersive experience to music lovers,” Anan said.

Anyone who owns a Playstation VR headset will be able to download the video come spring.

The first half of Sony’s activation (March 10-13) included the Wow Studio, which showcased different technologies like Aibo, an AI-driven robotic dog that responds to touch and even barks. The studio was taken down after the interactive portion of the festival ended; the space then solely focused on Khalid’s VR experience during the music portion of SXSW.

Sony will wrap its “Lost in Music” campaign at SXSW on March 16 with performances by Noah Cyrus, Cam, Caitlyn Smith, Lo Moon, Morgan Saint and The Accidentals.

The technology Sony debuted was yet another example of brands breaking the mold with unique activations during the festival. As Adweek senior tech editor Lauren Johnson noted, while there have been less activations than in past years, this year’s presented a host of new and unique experiences, including BeautyRest inviting 150 people to sleep on its beds and Grindr editing over 50 Wikipedia pages to add LGBTQ information.

SERENITY THROUGH TECHNOLOGY: THE PIONEERING BENTLEY BENTAYGA HYBRID

  • World’s first luxury hybrid
  • Serene driving experience utilises future-focussed technology
  • Bentley’s first step towards electrification
  • Advanced electric motor combines with new V6 petrol engine
  • Battery recharged in 2.5 hrs

(Crewe, 5 March 2018) Bentley is today announcing full details of the world’s first luxury hybrid model. The Bentayga Hybrid represents Bentley’s first step towards full electrification, combining the serenity of silent motoring with exquisite comfort and effortless performance.

Offering the best of both worlds, the new plug-in hybrid model combines an advanced electric motor with a powerful and efficient new-generation V6 petrol engine. The hybrid version of the world’s most luxurious SUV will be the company’s most efficient model ever with CO2 emissions of 75 g/km (NEDC).

The Bentayga Hybrid feels and rides like a true Bentley, providing the refinement, effortless performance and exquisitely tranquil cabin environment for which the luxury British brand is famed. It represents the future of luxury mobility; an oasis of calm and tranquillity in the city and beyond.

Adrian Hallmark, new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bentley Motors, said: “The Bentayga Hybrid is our first step on the road to electrification, combining traditional Bentley values with the very latest technologies. It gives customers the best of both worlds – engaging, effortless performance on the open road and silent, emission-free driving in the city, which will become increasingly important with the ever-changing regulations around the world.

“Following Bentley tradition, the Bentayga Hybrid pioneers a new automotive sector – the luxury hybrid – and sets Bentley on the path towards a sustainable electrified future.”

Bentayga Hybrid is not yet available to order. It will become available to order in selected markets from the second half of 2018.

Intelligent, Experience-Enhancing Technology

At the heart of the Bentayga Hybrid are two power sources – a highly efficient electric motor and a new turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine. The E Motor acts as both an electric motor and a generator to offer a seamless driving experience and guaranteeing maximum electric-only range.

The Hybrid adds a new dimension to the existing range of luxury Bentayga models. It features all the flexibility associated with the W12, V8 Diesel and V8 derivatives, with the same sure-footed permanent four-wheel drive and four on-road modes – Sport, Bentley, Comfort and Custom.

The Automatic Start-Stop switch is replaced with a control for the three E Modes – EV Drive, Hybrid Mode and Hold Mode. These will enable the driver to manage battery usage during a journey.

The Bentayga Hybrid requires new and different information to be relayed to the driver. As a result, a revised infotainment screen and Driver’s Information Panel with E Motion information have been designed to provide details on performance, consumption and energy source.

The traditional tachometer that displays engine speed is replaced with a dial showing when the car is operating in pure EV Drive, or engine speed if the combustion engine is operating. A battery status dial replaces the coolant temperature gauge.

The infotainment screen can display energy flow in each of the three E Modes, showing whether the vehicle is being powered by energy supplied by the battery, or the combustion engine – or whether energy is flowing back to the battery in order to charge it.

To maximise efficiency, the vehicle uses satellite navigation information to calculate the best usage of electric motor and engine for every journey. Inputting a destination into the navigation system will command the car to automatically engage the correct E Mode for each part of the journey, constantly calculating the most efficient use of battery charge and storing electrical energy for sections of the journey where it is most useful – such as when arriving in the city. The system will reduce on-board charge to zero just as the vehicle reaches its destination, maximising overall efficiency.

A number of Hybrid-specific functions will also be introduced to the latest Connected Car ‘MyBentley3’ services, including My Battery Charge, My Cabin Comfort, and My Car Status, operated via a smartphone app.

Bentley has prioritised the charging experience to ensure that owning a Bentayga Hybrid is as easy as owning a conventional car. Controllable remotely from a Smartphone, or in-person via the on-board charging point, the charging status and programming will be visible on the MMI drivers’ screen and on the user’s smartphone via an app.

Other unique features include E-Charging, where the app will list nearby or relevant charging stations (based on your search criteria), and give you the option to set them as destinations on the car navigation system; and My Cabin Comfort which allows you to set the car to heat (or cool) itself so that the cabin is at the optimum temperature when the door is opened.

The Bentayga Hybrid’s Vehicle Charge Point is located on the opposite side to the normal fuel filler. From here, the car can be connected to either a domestic power supply, or a public charger point. The rear luggage compartment will hold two bespoke bags containing the necessary cables to connect the car to either.

With an impressive electric range of over 31 miles (50 km) in the NEDC cycle, a full charge of the battery from a domestic household socket will take 7.5 hours. However, customers with an industrial connection installed at home can reduce the charge time to just 2.5 hours.

Timeless Bentley by Starck Power Dock

Bentley has collaborated with renowned designer, Philippe Starck, to create a concept for a highly desirable recharging unit for Bentayga Hybrid customers – the Power Dock.

The statement piece showcases the exquisite attention to detail you would expect from both Bentley and Starck, using sustainable and elegant materials. The stylish surround is formed from pressed eco-linen with bio-sourced thermosetting resin, while the domed frontage is fashioned using a hot-pressure aluminium casting.

The minimal and elegant Power Dock is designed to keep charging cables neat and safe at home. Furthermore, it brings a luxurious touch to the act of hybrid recharging, acting as a functional piece of art that will enhance any home.

Starck’s elegant creation – with its tactile surfaces and inviting aesthetic – will encourage Bentayga Hybrid customers to plug-in whenever they are at home, thus ensuring each journey begins with the maximum electric-only range.

Innovative Features and Advanced Technologies

A suite of driver assistance systems and infotainment features, designed to enhance safety, comfort and convenience make the Bentayga Hybrid an innovative and advanced SUV.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Traffic Assist enable the driver to maintain a time gap to the vehicle in front. Predictive ACC uses the navigation data, sensors and cameras to predict upcoming corners, city boundaries and speed-limit changes and can then modify the vehicle speed accordingly, improving both comfort and fuel economy.

In urban environments, there are a number of driver aids available on the Bentayga Hybrid. These systems – such as Traffic Sign Recognition, which detects a wide variety of traffic signs and displays information to the driver; Rear Crossing Traffic Warning, which uses radar technology to detect crossing traffic when reversing out of a parking space; and Top View, a system which uses four cameras to display an overall picture of the vehicle’s surroundings – combine to enhance everyday usability.

Park Assist is also available – a system that detects suitable parking spaces (both parallel and perpendicular) before autonomous steering takes over to support parking manoeuvres, even in narrow and tricky spaces.

Other innovative systems available include Electronic Night Vision, which uses infra-red technology to identify potential obstacles ahead, and a Head-Up Display, which reduces driver distraction and increases safety.

The Bentayga’s 8” touch screen infotainment system boasts class-leading navigation technology, a 60GB hard drive, and a choice of up to 30 languages.

Rear seat passengers benefit from the Bentley Entertainment Tablet – a removable 10.2” Android device with 4G, WiFi and Bluetooth for effortless, high-speed on-board connectivity.

Customers can choose between three different sound systems for the Bentayga Hybrid: Bentley Standard Audio, Bentley Signature Audio and Naim for Bentley Premium Audio. The latter is the most powerful system in the segment, with 1,950 watts, a network of 18 speakers and super-tweeters for unrivalled recreation of the highest audio frequencies.

Sculptural Form, Sharp Lines and Elegant Execution

The Bentayga Hybrid’s wheel arches, fenders and bonnet deliver a balance between sportiness and SUV presence.

The ultra-sharp Bentley power line and muscular rear haunch display a taut tension in side profile, as part of the largest single-piece aluminium pressing in the automotive world. Trademark Bentley features such as the large matrix grille and B-shaped wing vents afford the Bentayga a modern, dynamic elegance.

At the rear, within the segmented tail lights, a ‘B’-shaped illumination graphic is incorporated that affords the Bentayga an instantly recognisable and striking night-time signature.

Bentley’s most efficient model ever will be identifiable thanks to a number of elegant exterior styling cues. Copper-coloured ‘Hybrid’ badging on the lower front doors and tailgate – and a copper finish to the wheel centres and Bentley badges – highlight the electric performance potential of the Bentayga’s new powertrain. Additionally, the insert on the tread plates will also read ‘Hybrid’.

The World’s Finest Cabin, Handcrafted at the Home of Bentley

Step inside the Bentayga Hybrid and you find the finest automotive interior in the world, with handcrafted wood and leather throughout – engineered with precision to deliver absolute perfection.

The attention to detail in metal, wood and leather is the epitome of modern British luxury, and is only achievable thanks to the exceptional skill of the workforce in Crewe.

The Bentayga’s cockpit sets new standards for both luxury and precision, with meticulous tolerances between the exquisite veneered woods and metal elements. The dashboard takes the iconic Bentley ‘wing’ design as its inspiration, with the beautifully finished surfaces flowing gracefully from door to door over the top of the instrument binnacles, down under the centre console and back up around the passenger side fascia and foot well.

The hand-selected veneers form pure and elegant surfaces throughout the cabin, and each of the 15 pieces are shaped by Bentley’s artisans from a choice of seven different veneers, and finished with trademark Bentley attention to detail.

Highly polished, handcrafted metal elements adorn the dashboard, centre console and doors. Trademark Bentley knurling on the drive mode selector, gear knob, iconic bulls-eye vents and organ pulls adds sophistication and tactile refinement.

Sumptuous front seats, individually handcrafted in Crewe and featuring 22-way adjustment including adjustable cushion and backrest bolsters, provide superb support and comfort for all conditions. This cosseted feeling is further enhanced with a six-programme massage system, seat heating and ventilation.

Whether selected in four- or five-seat configuration, all of the leather seats in the Bentayga are available with contrast stitching and a quilted diamond design applied to the ‘shoulders’ and bolsters, echoing the design of a finely tailored British hunting jacket.

Bentley specialists individually select only the finest bull hides, all of which are sourced from cool European climates, naturally tanned and never over-printed. Customers have the choice of 15 colours, in three duo-tone and one single mono-tone colour split.

The four-seat configuration makes the ultimate statement in design, comfort and luxury.  The two individual rear seats adjust in 18 different ways and include massage and ventilation functions as well as footrests. The veneered rear console hides additional functionality such as cup holders, generous storage areas and USB charging sockets.

The opulent feeling is completed by the fixed back, dividing the interior cabin from the boot.  Also trimmed in the signature diamond quilting and including a ski-hatch, it creates an enclosed rear cabin space that sets new standards in the SUV sector.

The full-length panoramic sunroof with acoustic interlayers allows ample natural sunlight to highlight the surfaces and detailing.

The Mercedes-Benz F 015 Luxury in Motion

Forerunner of a mobility revolution

Stuttgart. With the S 500 INTELLIGENT DRIVE and the Future Truck 2025, Mercedes-Benz has already made the vision of autonomous driving reality. The new research vehicle F 015 Luxury in Motion had its world premiere at the Consumer Electronics Show, and provides a concrete example of the visionary ideas the company is developing with regard to autonomous driving of the future. With this self-driving luxury sedan Mercedes-Benz illustrates how the car is growing beyond its role as a mere means of transport and will ultimately become a private retreating space. This new way of traveling gives passengers the freedom to use their valuable time on the road in manifold ways.

Progressing from the self-propelled (“automotive”) to the self-reliant (“autonomous”) vehicle,

Mercedes-Benz as a pioneer goes far beyond the purely technical realization of automated driving. The company’s experts also have to anticipate different outlooks and social trends. People are always at the center of such considerations. Just as the 1886 Benz Patent Motor Car and its successors revolutionized personal mobility and, as a consequence, society as a whole, the first self-driving cars will also bring about major changes.

“Anyone who focuses solely on the technology has not yet grasped how autonomous driving will change our society. The car is growing beyond its role as a mere means of transport and will ultimately become a mobile living space,” explains Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars.

THE MERCEDES-BENZ C-CLASS GETS EVEN MORE LUXURIOUS FOR 2019

Written By | Collin Woodard

More power, more standard features, and more technology

Past versions of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class have generally been solid cars, but they haven’t always felt particularly special. With the 2015 redesign of the C-Class, however, that all changed. Not only does it now look like a smaller S-Class, the interior almost looks like it could be out of the S-Class. To keep it from feeling dated, though, Mercedes gave the 2019 C-Class an update that adds power, new standard features, and even more technology.

Exterior changes have been kept subtle and focus on refining the car’s appearance more than changing it. The new front and rear bumpers are well-integrated and help give the car even more of an S-Class feel. Mercedes also made LED headlights and taillights standard, designed new 17-inch wheels for the base model, added two paint colors, and redesigned the key. Inside, the C-Class gets a new steering wheel, but beyond that, the cabin looks pretty much the same.

But while the visual updates are minimal, the C-Class didn’t necessarily need any major design changes. Instead, Mercedes chose to add standard features and offer more technology options. So when you buy a new C-Class, push-button start, a power-retractable sunroof, wood trim, a 7.0-inch infotainment system, and automatic braking are all included. The base engine also now makes an extra 14 hp, bringing the total up to 255 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque.

Customers looking for a little more luxury can add a 10.25-inch infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, a heads-up display, NFC wireless charging, and a Burmester sound system. Most importantly, though, the E-Class‘ semiautonomous driver assistance package is also an option.

Under the right conditions, the new C-Class will be able to follow the car in front of it at a safe distance, maintain its lane, adjust its speed based on the speed limit, and change lanes with a tap of the turn signal. The system isn’t as advanced as Cadillac’s SuperCruise or Tesla’s Autopilot, nor is it remotely close to being fully autonomous, but it’s still impressive.

Marvel Music & Hollywood Records Present Black Panther Original Film Score Soundtrack

Marvel Music And Hollywood Records Present Marvel Studios’ Black Panther Original Motion Picture Score Soundtrack

 Available Digitally On February 16th

Original Score Composed by Ludwig Göransson

BURBANK, Calif., Feb. 13, 2018 — Marvel Music/Hollywood Records are releasing the digital album of the Black Panther score, composed by Grammy®-nominated composer and songwriter Ludwig Göransson, on February 16, 2018.

The film is directed by Ryan Coogler and produced by Kevin Feige with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nate Moore, Jeffrey Chernov and Stan Lee serving as executive producers. Ryan Coogler & Joe Robert Cole wrote the screenplay.  Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” hits U.S. theaters on February 16, 2018.

“Black Panther” marks Göransson’s third collaboration with director Ryan Coogler (“Creed,” “Fruitvale Station”).  The Swedish-born composer wrote the original songs for “Creed” and has also produced albums for Childish Gambino, Haim, and Chance the Rapper.

Göransson recorded the score in London with a 132-piece western classical orchestra, African percussionists and a 40-person choir. Göransson said, “After reading Ryan’s first draft of the script, I quickly realized that the only way I could properly score ‘Black Panther’ was to travel to Africa to record, research and learn from as many musicians I could find. I was introduced to Senegal’s most incredible musicians and storytellers, and from there it all started to come together.  One of the instruments that especially caught my attention was the talking drum, which together with West African sabar drums and ceremonial rhythms, became the foundation for the score.”

Göransson infused a wide array of African instrumentation into the score and character themes.  Speaking about the score’s creation, Göransson notes: “The talking drum is used for T’Challa’s main theme, with one hit per syllable of his name played on the drum.”  For Erik Killmonger’s theme, the name was sung and screamed into a fula flute to convey the “musical interpretation of the character’s ferocity.”   Sabar drums were used to “propel the story and to highlight both the country of Wakanda and T’Challa’s movements, especially in his fight scenes.”  Sabar drums are used in traditional African wrestling “making them perfect for the action scenes.”

Göransson’s biggest challenge was to blend a western classical orchestra and modern production with traditional African rhythms and harmonies.  He adds, “Together with Ryan Coogler, we worked out new ways of combining the three elements into something traditionally authentic and truly unique, that I hope embodies the heart and soul of Wakanda.”

The “Black Panther” digital album is available for pre-order HERE.  The soundtrack can be streamed HERE .

Mercedes’ Super Bowl challenge broke the internet

Or, at the least, the “Last Fan Standing” contest broke whatever system Mercedes used to host its challenge.

Written By | Andrew Krok

Last week Mercedes-Benz’s introduced a twist on the “leave your hand on a car” challenge, giving the winner a chance to pick up a new Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe. While this seemed like a neat idea, it proved difficult to pull off.

When it came time for “Last Fan Standing” — a game where winning involves keeping your finger on a digital car for the longest — to kick off, it… didn’t. The 6:30 p.m. Eastern start time came and went, with technical difficulties to blame for the delay. As time went on, it seemed like Mercedes wouldn’t be able to get its act together, and that turned out to be true.

Eventually, Mercedes-Benz USA took to Twitter to explain that the automaker put the kibosh on the game entirely. But folks who wanted that lithe sports coupe didn’t have to fret. The challenge turned into a good old-fashioned random draw:

Good news: the Mercedes-AMG is still in play. Bad news: our enthusiasm broke the internet. Eligible registrants will now be entered into a random drawing to pick a winner. We’ll announce them as soon as he/she can be confirmed. Sorry again and thank you for your patience!

Now, instead of having to hold a finger on a phone screen, you don’t have to do anything to win the C43 Coupe. Sounds even better to me, unless you were absolutely sure that you had the finger fortitude to win.

The winner will be quite the lucky duck. The C43 Coupe packs 362 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque, thanks to a 3.0-liter V6 mated to an automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. It’ll glimpse at 30 mpg on the highway, and it’ll snort its way up and down the rev range, but its ride leaves a little bit to be desired. You can read all about it in our review of the C43 Coupe.

ESPN to Debut First Take: Your Take Exclusively on Facebook Watch

Written By |

Unique episodic digital show driven by fan engagement to premiere Monday, Jan. 29

On Monday, Jan. 29 ahead of Super Bowl LII, ESPN will debut its first episodic digital show that will be streamed three times per week exclusively on Facebook Watch. First Take: Your Take will tailor ESPN’s popular First Take television program to Facebook’s new social video platform with content that incorporates viewer interaction and engagement.

The show’s exclusive content will begin on Mondays with traditional studio segments, as host Molly Qerim and featured commentators Stephen A. Smith and Max Kellerman debate the hottest topics in sports. Viewers will then be able to share their own takes by uploading their videos on Facebook, some of which will then be packaged into the show’s episodes on Wednesdays. The week will culminate on Fridays with episodes featuring one lucky fan debating directly with a First Take commentator.

“I’m excited about this new venture,” said Smith. “Despite First Take’s success, this is yet another forward step in our venture to increase our audience, reminding all of them that ‘There Is No Success For Us Without You.’ Our latest attempt to build via social media should serve as an emphatic piece of evidence that the entire First Take family fully recognizes complacency is our ultimate enemy. We won’t allow it. So, yet again, here we come!”

“I am really excited for all of the talented people here at First Take to work on this with Ricky Van Veen’s extraordinary team at Facebook Watch,” added Kellerman.

“We’ve created something truly unique and innovative with First Take: Your Take,” said Ryan Spoon, SVP of Social Content, ESPN. “This engaging video experience is the first of its kind that takes the best of ESPN and marries it with the best of what the Facebook Watch platform has to offer. By doing this, we are not only speaking directly to fans but also bringing them into the conversation as active participants.”

“First Take: Your Take is ideally suited for Facebook Watch,” said Dan Reed, Facebook Head of Global Sports Partnerships. “With its highly interactive and social elements, the show has great potential to spark conversation and bring people together. We’re excited to partner with ESPN to create such an active viewing experience for fans and look forward to seeing the Facebook community get the chance to debate the First Take crew.”
