Utah Unites to Turn Up the Love at Loveloud

As Pride month comes to an end all around the world, many people in Utah and from different states come together to celebrate at Loveloud’s third year as a festival.

The festival is organized and created by Dan Reynolds, the lead singer of Imagine Dragons. All proceeds from ticket sales are benefited to any local and national LGBTQ+ charities and communities. As for the foundation, “Loveloud was created to ignite the vital conversation about what it means to unconditionally love, understand, support and celebrate out LGBTQ+ friends and family,” (Loveloud mission statement).

This year’s lineup was jam packed with many artists such as Laura Jane Grace and the Devouring Mothers, PVRIS, K. Flay, Daya, Tegan and Sara, Kesha, AJR and the founder himself Dan Reynolds, in between main acts there were also other performers and speakers. Throughout the day, the festival was streamed thanks to AT&T and the festival had help from many LGBTQ+ organizations such as Tegan and Sara Foundation, The Trevor Project, and many more.  

From the beginning of the day, walking through the gates of the festival it was just all around positive vibes, leading up to the amphitheater tents were set up from the supporting organizations with ambassadors, a variety of festival attendees showed up in rainbow themed outfits, glitter covered make up looks, pride flags flying high, and most important of all so much love to spread around. Performers and speakers came to the festival sharing their coming out stories to give a sense of reassurance and a reminder that the journey is hard and long but to feel so free and open at the end of it all is so much worth it. This day was more than just listening to good music and soaking up the sun, it was about celebrating how far the LGBTQ+ community has come and accepting people for just how they are. Loveloud festival is one of the best ways for local Utahans to end Pride month and a nice reminder of the communities and organizations that are available to us and everyone around the world.
