Rapper Kamaiyah (4Hunnid/Interscope Records) is back with the official video for her latest single, “Windows” featuring Quavo and Tyga. The Damien Sandoval-directed captures the high energy of the unapologetically Hyphy track, while also showcasing key aspects of black culture. The video opens with a Black Panther-esque scene and continues on to cover everything from street dancing and double dutch to fisheye shots and oversized suits, à la classic 90s music videos. The visual comes just days after the single’s release; a treat for fans who enjoyed Kamaiyah’s whirlwind takeover in 2018. Produced by Trackademics and Drew Banga, the single was praised by Hot New Hip Hop as keeping “the spirit of the Bay alive.” “Windows” is the first release off of Kamaiyah’s forthcoming project.
Kamaiyah has been impressing hip hop fans and critics since breaking onto the scene in 2016 with her mixtape A Good Night in the Ghetto. The following year, she released Before I Wake (2017) and earned a spot as part of XXL’s noteworthy Freshman Class. Last year she took the stage at both Coachella and South by Southwest before kicking off the summer with the Mustard-produced “Addicted to Ballin’” featuring ScHoolboy Q. Kamaiyah was selected by Sprite to appear alongside Lebron James in the “Big Taste Cuts Through” commercial. Now, Kamaiyah plans to continue her reign while also showcasing her dedication to causes that are close to her heart such as women empowerment.
