Emerging North Carolina star YSB Tril unveils his relentless new single, “Applause, out now via LISTEN TO THE KIDS/Geffen Records. The energetic song, which showcases Tril’s sense for melody as well as his razor-toothed rapping ability, is the latest evidence of the 21-year-old MC’s radical versatility. “Applause” is available now at all digital retailers.

Few songs in recent memory have the unique combination of grit and celebratory bounce that YSB Tril manages to capture on “Applause.” “They said it wasn’t possible,” Tril raps at one point, giving voice to his doubters who still can’t wait to hop on board his “G6 to the islands.

“Applause” comes on the heels of “Lost,” a heartfelt acoustic cut that foregrounded Tril’s more sensitive side. Raised in Clayton, North Carolina, a small town near Charlotte, the artist has long contained multitudes. He emerged in 2021 with his debut full-length project, the breathless HOTSHOT. That record’s 13 songs reveal Tril as someone with a rich singing voice and the nimble rapping chops to switch effortlessly between modes the way few artists can.

YSB Tril took his career to a new level earlier this year with STARSTRUCK 2, an eight-song mixtape that is even more vibrant and unforgettable than what came before it. He has earned praise from publications including Lyrical Lemonade and Respect magazine, and has seen his songs integrated into the world of sports: “Ain’t The Same” was used by the NBA and Toronto Raptors before regular-season tip offs, and “Count Me In” was included in EA Sports’ Madden NFL 22 video game. “Applause” is proof that superstardom is the next natural step.
