DIA AND PAOPAOBLEND THE BEST OF THEIRWORLDS FOR WISTFUL REGGAETON ANTHEM, “CON EL”

One of music’s most promising up-and-coming forces, Puerto Rican phenomenon DIA presents a new genre-bending anthem titled “CON EL”, this time inviting fellow breakout singer and songwriter, paopao. “CON EL” arrives through his newly inked deal with independent label Casablanca Records and is now available on all digital platforms.

A transformative banger that experiments and redefines reggaeton, “CON EL” creates the perfect harmony between both of the artists’ distinctive musical flairs. Opening with a fiery DIA verse over bright marimba synths, a hard-hitting reggaeton kick lingers closely behind before gradually melting into a driving reggaeton beat. This switch opens a path for paopao’s buttery vocals as the two artists exchange their verses to deliver a heartfelt and hypnotic experimental anthem.

“I started working on the song with Red Finger (producer), and from the moment I wrote the intro I instantly thought of paopao,” DIA shares, “I feel she gives her fans that pleasant sadness in her songs. We got together in the studio and it flowed easily. We wanted to take ‘regret’ in a different direction, and storytelling through my songs is something that identifies me, so we merged both worlds together and it resulted in ‘CON EL’.”

For the accompanying visual, “CON EL” spots DIA packing up the remains of an evident break up, right before stumbling upon a sentimental plush that strikingly resembles paopao. Hesitant and weary, the artist is instantly enveloped in a rush of memories with his ex-partner as he channels his heartbreak while singing to the plush doll – painting the perfect picture of the song’s reminiscent nature. In search of these fading memories, paopao drives to DIA but is pulled back once reaching the door, as both artists simultaneously sing their verses on either side of the door but never quite opening what’s in the past – ultimately making the decision to walk away.

In August, DIA made waves with the release of his debut EP, ‘ITM: SUMMER, VOL.2.’ The five-track production featured collaborations with De La Rose on “Pidiendo Saoco,” and LATENIGHTJIGGY for “Mini Tu”. More recently, DIA and LATENIGHTJIGGY brought their smash collaboration to life with a captivating Smash Hits live session.
