Monks share new EP ‘Worldview’, out now
Liverpool four-piece Monks have released their new EP ‘Worldview’ via Not That Records / Virgin Music. The EP is a cool, swaggering electronica-infused indie that features the recent singles ‘Salt Of the Earth’, Aquarius’ and ‘Welcome Home’.
‘Welcome Home’ was the thrilling re-introduction to Monks, symbolizing the band’s shift in focus, drawing on the dance music culture of their native Liverpool with its pulsing synths and dancefloor-ready vibe. ‘Aquarius’ soon followed, and most recently ‘Salt of the Earth’ came packed with the personality and energy, widescreen synths and atmospheric hooks. It was the sound of Monks hitting their stride. With the final track ‘Forever’, Monks are set to take off into the autumn and cement their reputation as ones to watch heading into the New Year.
It adds up to ‘Worldview’, a unique mix of indie, alternative, electronica and techno that positions Monks at the vanguard of a new and exciting musical movement in their hometown and beyond. The four tracks show off the band’s invention and creativity. It highlights how Monks have re-grouped, created a new sound and are now set to build on the growing reputation they’ve built over the last two years. Incendiary live shows that bring together indie kids and dance fans have been crucial to their rise and ‘Worldview’ is set to take this to the next level.
