SEBASTIÁN YATRA premieres the video for “Amen,” a powerful call to empathy and connection from the heart

Latin GRAMMY-winning singer, songwriter, and philanthropist Sebastián Yatra has released the video for his heartfelt single “Amen”. The song was born out of a deep reflection on our role in the world and the importance of leading with empathy. “Amen” is an invitation to look inward, to be part of the solution, and to consider our own actions before judging the world around us. The video is now available on Yatra’s official YouTube channel.

Directed and produced by Borja Respaldiza of The Feelms Studio, the video follows Yatra’s journey to Africa alongsideAUARA, a Spanish social enterprise that reinvests its profits into projects that provide access to clean water, sanitation, and agriculture. During his visit to the Humanitas school run by the NGO KUBUKA and the Kirira Foundation’s shelter, the artist witnessed firsthand the harsh realities faced by communities without safe drinking water, who rely on local initiatives to improve their living conditions. Many of the young women at the shelter are at risk of harmful traditional practices such as female genital mutilation or child marriage. In this context, supporting organizations like Kirira is essential to offer safe alternatives and the possibility of a life free from violence. These images capture both the harsh truth and a hopeful perspective, reminding us that we are all part of the problem, but also part of the solution, and that empathy is often the first step toward real change.

Amen is a song I hold very close to my heart. I remember driving through Kenyan communities with my friend Borja, listening to the track, and suddenly everyone in the car was in tears. In that moment, I knew the video needed to capture that raw emotion and reflect the reality of so many communities around the world. Borja had always told me he dreamed of directing a video with me, and I said, ‘This is the one.’ The feeling was already there—nothing more needed to be invented. My hope is that this video inspires more people to see the incredible work AUARA, Kirira and Kubuka are doing, and to realize there are people who dedicate their lives not to themselves, but to the good of others,” shares Sebastián Yatra.

This audiovisual project also marks the beginning of a deeper collaboration between Yatra and AUARA. Since learning about the organization in 2024, he has taken part in efforts across Africa and Latin America to expand access to clean water in vulnerable communities. In Kenya, he visited families, heard their stories, and toured projects by NGOs Kirira and Kubuka,  which offered him a closer look at the reality on the ground.

“You can’t fully understand the magnitude of the problem until you see it with your own eyes. Many of these communities walk miles to fetch water, and it’s not even safe, it’s water that makes people sick and often takes the lives of young children. Facing that reality, and at the same time meeting people and organizations who dedicate their lives to changing it, fills me with admiration. It reminds me that there are so many angels in this world, even if they don’t have wings,” Yatra added.

Back in Colombia, his home country, Yatra extended his commitment to local initiatives in regions such as Chocó and Magdalena. In collaboration with the NGO Voluntariado in Pangui, Chocó, 10,000-liter purification tanks were installed in communities without access to clean water, living under extreme poverty and security risks. In Pueblo Viejo, Magdalena, a water purification plant with the capacity to process 15,000 liters per hour was implemented, ensuring safe drinking water for the community and benefiting around 7,000 people.

“Sebastián Yatra wanted to see firsthand the work AUARA has been carrying out on the ground for years. His support helps us speed up certain projects and shed light on a reality that affects 400 million people. Our mission remains the same: to keep transforming lives through access to clean water. Together, we can go further and make sure every bottle, every action, translates into opportunities for thousands of people,” said Antonio Espinosa de los Monteros, CEO and co-founder of AUARA.
