SOLYA RELEASES DEBUT ALBUM QUEEN OF TEXAS
West Texas singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Solya has released her debut album Queen of Texas. The 10-track collection is available via VERSION III. Solya’s North American headline Queen of Texas Tour in support of the album is currently underway. To herald the album’s arrival, Solya has unveiled a brand new music video for title track “Queen of Texas,” captured at the tour’s first two shows in Dallas and Austin, TX.
“Queen of Texas is a deeply personal album with themes of self-acceptance and choosing solitude over toxicity, even though it is something I’ve always feared,” shares Solya. “Musically, I wanted to create cinematic, heartfelt songs with elements of country, indie rock, and Americana, in combination with ethereal synthesizers. The album was written over the span of 4 months and recorded entirely on analog equipment in just 10 days.”
Queen of Texas was written and recorded entirely in Texas, taking shape in Lockhart with producer Danny Reisch (Khruangbin, Local Natives) and a close-knit group of local collaborators. Solya wrote every song and played rhythm guitar, synths, and piano, with Reisch on percussion and Jason Chronis (Tele Novella, Voxtrot) on bass and lead guitar. Together, they expand the bedroom-born intimacy of her early singles into something rich, atmospheric, and unmistakably Texan. Blending warm Americana with dreamy indie rock, the album pairs retro pop harmonies and twangy textures with psychedelic storytelling, as Solya reflects on heartbreak, identity, and growing up queer in a conservative town.
Solya formally announced the album in January with the release of lead single “Tell Me It’s Over,” and returned in February with “Is This Love??”. The LP’s early singles received critical acclaim from Rolling Stone, Ones To Watch, NME, and Sweety High, and arrived to flagship playlisting including Spotify’s New Music Friday and Apple Music’s New Music Daily.
Solya previewed Queen of Texas with the release of tracks “Silver Swan,” “Movie Star,” “19,” and “Born Wicked” over the course of 2025. The album follows her independently released 2023 EP Fever Dream and 2024 EP Jewel Box, and builds upon the success of early singles such as “Tear Me Apart” and “We Say Goodbye,” which helped her cultivate a devoted fanbase.
Solya is celebrating the album’s release with her Queen of Texas headline tour, which kicked off last week with a run of dates across the Lone Star State. In May, the tour will resume, visiting 24 major markets across the U.S. and Canada. Lockhart, TX duo Tele Novella will provide support on all North American dates. In July, Solya will embark on a tour of Europe and The United Kingdom. A complete list of upcoming live dates can be found below. Tickets for all shows are available HERE.
The Queen of Texas Tour marks Solya’s first run with a full band. In a glowing review of the tour’s kickoff show in Dallas, TX, Melodic Magazine praised, “Between songs, the air was filled with a constant stream of ‘I love you, Solya!’ and honestly, watching her command that stage with a full band behind her, it was hard not to feel the same way.” Solya’s previous solo touring includes a sold-out 21-city co-headline North American tour with Baby Bugs, four sold-out UK headline dates, and a sold-out headline show at Los Angeles’s historic Troubadour.
