Everyone’s favourite new band Sunday (1994) have announced their highly anticipated sophomore EP, Devotion, to be released 9th May via RCA. Pre-save here.

“We are thrilled to unveil Devotion, our second EP, a fevered companion to our first. Each song converses, conspires, or continues the story of one that came before. We won’t tell you which; discovery is far more divine. Call it a psalm for the disenchanted. Or… an EP. Whatever you prefer.” Sunday (1994)

With the announcement comes new offering, ‘Rain’, the second single to be taken from the forthcoming project. Opening with the resonant sound of an echoing church choir, ‘Rain’ is a song of worship—not to God, but to a lover. Powered by melodic bass, distorted guitar and the band’s signature shimmering instrumentation, the track’s equally dreamy yet haunting soundscapes back cleverly crafted lyricism, of which band members and songwriting duo Lee Newell and Paige Turner have become known.

Of the track, Sunday (1994) said: “A devotion so deep it borders on doom, where love clings to the wreckage of crime and consequence. If fate demands suffering, then let it be shared; whether in a lover’s arms or behind prison bars”.

‘Rain’ follows Sunday (1994)’s 2025 return with Doomsday’, which saw shoegazey guitar lines and radiant vocals soar with themes of love, loss and inevitable endings. Both tracks will feature on the forthcoming EP, the follow-up to their critically acclaimed self-titled debut, released last year.

Sunday (1994) will soon embark on their long-awaited debut headline tour, the UK leg to take place in May 2025. The run of 9-dates kicks off at London’s Village Underground, and will see the trio play a series of shows up and down the country including two sets at Brighton’s new music festival, The Great Escape, as well as slots at Live at Leeds and Manchester’s Neighbourhood Weekender. The band will also play an intimate live session in-store at Banquet Kingston on 18th May. Fans can pre-order the EP1 vinyl or CD to gain entry. On-sale now.

August will follow with Paris’ Rock en SieneMargate’s Dreamland and more festivals to be announced. The European dates will follow a run in North America and Canada, where the band recently played support tours with Phantogram and girl in red.
