CALABASAS DROPS “TOUCHDOWN,” NEW SINGLE + VIDEO AVAILABLE TODAY VIA DEF JAM RECORDINGS
Calabasas, the Los Angeles-based duo of Franskiiz and Watrcup, seize the moment with the release of “Touchdown”, their brand new single + video available at all platforms via Def Jam Recordings.
Speaking on their new single, Calabasas said, “Touchdown represents a new chapter for us sonically and in our lives. It feels like we are ready to turn the page and take the next step with Calabasas to bring the fans something more evolved from what we’ve been. This is the first song where we feel like our chemistry is highlighted to its best and we know it’s a great representation of who we are right now.”
“Touchdown” is the first single off their forthcoming debut album slated for release in 2024 with Def Jam Recordings. The single has already seen immense interest from fans on TikTok, with over 1.6 million combined views on their acoustic version of the song.
This year, Calabasas also released “Hello,” a yearning orchestral plea for young love – “I really really want to get to know her” – that featured prominently in Ruby Gillman Teenage Kraken, the heartfelt action comedy from DreamWorks Animation that opened June 30th. The film starred the voices of Lana Condor, Jaboukie Young-White, Toni Collette, Jane Fonda, Annie Murphy, and more.
Calabasas teamed up with 5 billion-streaming bilingual, multicultural, next gen pop singer Trinidad Cardona for “Gentle.” The track, said the duo, “represents everything we are going through right now, just not trying to force anything. Letting things come to us naturally. The session with Trinidad was exactly that, just free flowing and felt right from the very beginning.”
