Clipse have shared a new visual for “The Birds Don’t Sing,” the highly-anticipated third official video from their critically-acclaimed album Let God Sort Em Out.

Directed by Brendan O’Connor, the deeply personal visual features scenes shot at the Thornton brothers’ family home in Virginia Beach, VA. A pastiche of imagery from their childhood including home movies and family photos, interspersed with an emotional performance set in the family living room, the clip opens with Pusha’s son Nigel placing flowers at the grave of his grandparents. “The Birds Don’t Sing” was written as an homage to Pusha T and Malice’s parents, who passed away within a year of one another. Trading verses between a soaring chorus from John Legend and Voices Of Fire, Pusha T raps directly to their mother, Malice to their father, both sharing messages of love and grief they never got the chance to say.

Earlier this month, CLIPSE made history at Pharrell Williams’ Grace For The World concert in St. Peter’s Square, becoming the first rap artists to perform at The Vatican with their epic performance of “The Birds Don’t Sing” with John Legend. Clipse joined Legend again this week, with a surprise guest performance of the song at his sold-out show at The Hollywood Bowl.

Early GRAMMY buzz has already begun for Let God Sort Em Out, with HITS including the set in their Album Of The Year predictions: “The hip-hop brothers’ reunion project (via Roc Nation) quickly leapfrogged any talk of nostalgia, filled as it is with ferocity, nimble rhyming and—particularly on its gorgeous opener, “The Birds Don’t Sing” f/John Legend—deep emotion. By any yardstick, it’s a strong achievement.”

HITS also included “Birds” in their Song Of The Year conversation: “The sibling hip-hop duo of Pusha T and Malice reunited to excellent effect this year, and this deeply moving track about loss, grief and resilience was arguably their most powerful statement.”

Billboard weighs in with an early nod to Let God Sort Em Out in the Album Of The Year category: “Three rap albums could be in the running for album of the year for only the second time in Grammy history. If Kendrick Lamar’s GNX; Tyler, The Creator’s Chromakopia; and Clipse’s Let God Sort Em Out all make the final cut, this will be the first time that three rap albums were nominated in the same year since 2019.”

Released on Friday, July 11th, Let God Sort Em Out took fans and critics by storm, garnering a flood of rave reviews including Rolling Stone’s 4-star review proclaiming the album as “brilliant,” the Guardian’s Five-star review hailing it as “one of the albums of the year,” and Stereogum calling it “a statement of the highest order,” a “real-deal event” and “a reclamation of legacy”

Over the course of a remarkable release week that saw them dominate the cultural conversation with their instant-classic NPR Tiny Desk concertComplex cover story, emotional Tonight Show performanceESPYs appearance and an onslaught of interviews and viral social moments, Clipse were praised for the “masterclass” rollout of their highly-anticipated fourth studio album.

Executive-Produced by Pharrell Williams, Let God Sort Em Out features guest appearances from Kendrick Lamar, Tyler the Creator, Nas, John Legend, The-Dream, Ab-Liva, Stove God Cooks and more.

Pusha T and Malice released two searing tracks ahead of Let God Sort Em Out – “Ace Trumpets,” and “So Be It” – while grabbing headlines with GQThe New York TimesColors and more. In its GQ Hype cover story, GQ proclaimed “The Thornton brothers have set their intentions from the jump with an album title that promises to Let God Sort Em Out…killing all the competition by putting their bid in for Rap Album of the Year.”
