DEFIANT PRESENTS: BANDMANRILL, SHA EK AND MCVERTT SHARE 2 CLUB-READY NEW TRACKS

NEWARK’S BANDMANRILL & MCVERTT FLIP AN ICONIC HOUSE SAMPLE ON “MR. D.C.T.”

BRONX NATIVE SHA EK ENLISTS CHICAGO’S LIL ZAY OSAMA FOR “NEVER WANT TO BE THEM PART II”

Animating explosive regional sounds, New Jersey natives Bandmanrill and Mcvertt unveil “Mr. D.C.T.” while Bronx drill leader Sha EK shares “Never Want To Be Them Part II”, featuring Chicago’s Lil Zay Osama.

Produced by fellow Newark native, Jersey club rap sound architect MCVERTT, Bandmanrill’s new single, “Mr. D.C.T.,” is built on an iconic house sample from Crystal Waters, a Jersey native herself. The undeniably danceable track finds Bandman in full control of an energetic party atmosphere, making listeners follow his every move lest they get lost in the shuffle: “Baby girl, I’m a lion, a Leo/If he play, set it off like I’m Cleo.”

Meanwhile, across the Hudson and Harlem rivers, the Bronx-born Sha EK enlists Chicago’s own Lil Zay Osama for an explosively atmospheric drill banger. Backed by the hard-hitting production of 083 Chee and J1 GTB, “Never Want To Be Them Part II” kicks off with the booming-voiced Sha sounding right at home on the track’s skittering hi-hats and sliding 808s as he aspires to be anything but his opps. Lil Zay Osama’s raw Chicago grit compliments Sha’s slick talk perfectly, as he dissects why his opps aspire to see anyone but him.

“Mr. D.C.T.” and “Never Want To Be Them Part II” are the opening salvos in a scorching summer boasting some of the hottest stars and most innovative artists on the East Coast, each of whom is trying to top their ascendant 2022.

Bandmanrill’s spectacular 2022 featured dancefloor-shaking hits like the FADER-acclaimed “REAL HIPS,” culminating in his debut album Club Godfather, which Pitchfork praised as “breakneck” and “intoxicating.” Known for his natural megaphone of a voice, 20-year-old Sha Ek reached the #1 spot on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart with his debut Face Of The What, and connected with Bandman for the East Coast anthem “WHO YOU TOUCH.” Rising producer MCVERTT is heralded as a father of the club rap scene taking hold in Newark, Philadelphia, and across the East Coast. The trio of Bandman, Sha, and MCVERTT have joined forces for “Jiggy In Jersey” and “Jiggy In Jersey Pt. 2,” which together racked up tens of millions of streams and showed the artistic potential of combining street sounds with club music.
