The German dance-pop duo Frida Gold stopped on their Morgenrot tour, with support act Maryam.fyi, for an energetic, sold-out show at Frannz Club in Berlin. They performed songs from the self-titled EP, showcasing their new musical chapter, as well as their most famous songs that helped shape the German pop scene a decade ago.

With most of the fans already lining up in front of the venue and around the block, it didn’t take long for the room to fill up once the doors opened. Due to a slightly tighter schedule, caused by an event following immediately after the concert, the show also didn’t take long to start.

Singer and songwriter Maryam.fyi opened the evening, offering a set of dreamy, emotional, and melodic pop songs. She sang about love and friendship, switching between singing and playing the keyboard, and encouraged the crowd to join in and sing along to her song “Queen.” Her set also included a more serious moment, as she used the platform to speak about her Iranian roots and draw attention to the protests currently taking place. She also performed a cover in her mother tongue, originally written during protests three years ago.

After the break, Frida Gold took the stage. Starting strong and energetic, the duo danced across the small stage as soon as the first notes of “Wach” (Awake) hit. Their set naturally included their latest songs, but also three of their most well-known and fan-favorite tracks, such as “Liebe ist meine Rebellion” (Love Is My Rebellion), which further fired up the crowd and had everyone singing along.

With “Alle Frauen in mir sind müde” (All Women in Me Are Tired), they delivered an emotional anecdote and an acoustic performance mid-set. Afterward, they quickly lifted the mood again and brought more energy into the room with several songs from their latest EP, as well as another well-known fan favorite, “Unsere Liebe ist aus Gold” (Our Love Is Made of Gold). This highlighted their danceable pop soundscapes and their journey between older and newer material. The set also featured flute, piano, and melodica, giving the older songs in particular a fresh twist.

They concluded the main set with “Wovon sollen wir träumen” (What Should We Dream Of), their breakthrough song from back in the day. By this point, there was no stopping even the rest of the crowd. After a two-song encore, the band sent their fans home for the night, ending the show on a high note with the title track “Morgenrot” (Dawn) and the promise of returning soon.
