G FLIP RELEASES HIGHLY ANTICIPATED THIRD STUDIO ALBUM DREAM RIDE

Acclaimed singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist G Flip has released their highly anticipated third studio album Dream Ride via Awal Recordings. To accompany the release, they’ve shared an official music video for the previously unreleased track “Bed On Fire”.

About “Bed On Fire” G Flip explains, “This song is all about the angst I grew up feeling going to Catholic school, having my first experience with a woman, and being like, ‘I’m bloody high off this love I’m having for someone that I shouldn’t.’ It’s saying, ‘Well, if I’m going to hell anyway, I’m going to set this place or the bed ablaze with my queerness’.”

About the album G adds, “Dream Ride is my little ‘80s Butch Springsteen fantasy. This record was written, recorded, and produced in my studio in LA with Aidan Hogg. We made over 100 songs to get to the final 10 that make up the album.

This album is inspired by the ‘80s. I’ve always resonated with ‘80s music, it embodies so much musicality – larger-than-life theatrics, bright colours, epic solos, huge drum tones, and a sonic landscape that feels like a movie. I wanted to embody all of this on this record and create my own ‘80s world. I wanted to make songs that make you dance, sing, cry, f*ck, laugh, and enjoy on a long drive.

I hope this record feels familiar and original, old and new, nostalgic yet still present. I hope you enjoy the Dream Ride.”

Dream Ride finds the Melbourne-born, LA-based musical polymath playing every instrument and teaming back up with co-writer/producer Aidan Hogg to create an album that both unpacks their experience as a queer, non-binary artist and is unabashedly inspired by Bruce Springsteen, late-night drives around Los Angeles, ‘80s reverb, and maximalist drums.

Dream Ride features previously released tracks “Disco Cowgirl,” “Big Ol’ Hammer,” and “In Another Life.” “Disco Cowgirl” debuted in May to widespread acclaim, earning praise from Billboard, Entertainment Tonight, Rolling Stone, and GLAAD, who crowned it the “song of the summer.” In June, the rip-roaring, unapologetically queer anthem “Big Ol’ Hammer,” arrived alongside a wildly entertaining music video inspired by Grease Lightnin’. Directed by Anne-Sophie Bine, the video features G Flip and a crew of queer icons performing a choreographed dance in G’s Lez Go! Auto shop, with a hilarious cameo by comedian Fortune Feimster and appearances from Shannon BeveridgeJacqueline ToboniAisha DeeKath EbbsSiena LigginsNiki DemarJulianne HopeJesse ThomasK SotomayorOlly Elyte, and Hina Sabatine. Watch it on their YouTube channel HERE. In July, Dream Ride was announced alongside the introspective “In Another Life.” Built for scream-singing in your car or belting at a live show, “In Another Life” received praise from Rolling Stone who hailed it as a “song you need to know.”

Next up, G will be embarking on an extensive headline world tour, and performing at both the Washington, DC and New York City editions of All Things Go Music Festival. Dubbed The Dream Ride Tour, G Flip’s headline dates kick off next week in the US at The Van Buren in Phoenix, AZ on September 9th, continuing through major US and Canadian markets including New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, and more, before heading to the UK, and Australia. Full tour routing is included below. For tickets and more information visit gflipmusic.com/tour.

G Flip has cemented their status as a truly singular voice in modern music, and is becoming the role model they never had growing up. They match their potent musicianship with sonic originality and a fantastically outspoken point-of-view.
