Jessy Blakemore releases debut EP ‘if you need me, i’m a few missed calls away’

Rising alt-R&B singer-songwriter Jessy Blakemore shares her debut EP if you need me, i’m a few missed calls away – out now via Black Butter. A mesmerising seven-track project that captures the messy, tender realities of love and connection in the digital age, it marks a major milestone for one of the UK’s brightest new voices.
Layering soulful vocals, stripped-back guitar, and intimate lyricism, Jessy crafts a sound that feels both timeless and distinctly modern. The EP features standout singles ‘burna’, ‘fone sex’, ‘2seater’ and viral breakout ‘shiloh type beat’, alongside new focus track ‘with you’ – released today with a stunning live video directed by creative duo YOUT (Jeremy Cole & Marco Grey: Little Simz, Cleo Sol, Michael Kiwanuka).
Speaking on the project, Jessy shares: “if you need me, i’m a few missed calls away’ is a collection of songs about navigating relationships in the digital age. Caring about someone despite their growing apathy and disappointing choices, alongside the distance that develops overtime.”
The release marks a milestone in what’s already been a breakout year for Jessy. Her debut single ‘shiloh type beat’ caught fire online earlier this year, earning co-signs from Billie Eilish, Stormzy, Central Cee and Dave, before being sampled by US rapper Russ on their collaboration ‘Recognize (feat. Jessy Blakemore)’, which has since surpassed 1M streams. Her debut singles earned early support from the likes of Rolling Stone UK, Wonderland, and BBC Introducing, and Jessy even scored a SoundCloud billboard in London on release of her debut track ‘burna’.
Following an incredible summer of shows – including sets at The Great Escape and Cross The Tracks, plus a standout support slot for SZA at BST Hyde Park last year – Jessy will play her sold-out headline show at The Waiting Room on November 5th, before heading on tour with Naomi Sharon across the UK and Europe later this autumn.
With inspirations spanning Amy Winehouse, Frank Ocean, and Aretha Franklin, Jessy’s music sits between alt-pop and soul – honest, unguarded, and effortlessly modern. At just 25, the Reading-born artist is proving herself as one of the most magnetic new voices to emerge from the UK underground – a storyteller for the era of half-read messages and digital heartbreak.
if you need me, i’m a few missed calls away is a spellbinding debut from an artist redefining vulnerability for a new generation.
