Pretty Girl releases new EP ‘Get Back To Me’ + announces 4-week residency at Phonox this July

Melbourne’s Pretty Girl is celebrating her move to London with the release of her heady and glimmering new EP Get Back To Me, out now via One House. The EP lands hot on the heels of her set at Project 6 festival over the bank holiday weekend, the first show in a packed out summer of touring across the UK/EU festival circuit. Pretty Girl has also announced a 4-week residency at Phonox this July, where she will be headlining a series of curated lineups featuring Sim0ne, Memphis LK, Dan Shake, Helena Star, Prospa and Tom VR. Full tour dates listed below.

This EP focus single ‘My Trust, My Love’ is a balearic inspired bubbler featuring Pretty Girl’s signature vocal chops. It’s a compelling exploration of vulnerability and a mirrorball dazzling slice of euphoric dance-pop elevated to something piercingly real: “This is my favourite track off the EP, and possibly my favourite track I’ve ever made. I wanted the structure to be really bold and dynamic, with lots of moments of opening and closing. It’s supposed to be a journey through the doubt of relinquishing control over virtues like trust and love, the fearfulness of falling in love.”

Enveloping the space between all-out bangers and bittersweet love songs, Pretty Girl’s new EP is a six-track missive that demonstrates her ability to balance romantic mood pieces with euphoric club moments. Glittering vocals, high-energy drums and masterful production provide the musical backdrop for the new EP, which is laced with symbols of transformation and personal development as Pretty Girl explains: “If my first two EPs were the caterpillar and the chrysalis, this one will be the butterfly. My intention with this EP was to look into my heart and see exactly what music it was telling me to make. I wanted to focus on what feels good, rather than just what sounds good. I think that intention shines through and when a track comes from an artist’s heart there is a special quality to a song. I used the process of writing the EP to actually reground myself in my identity and confidence not just as an artist but as a person. I used to have a very strong sense of self but felt lost in my identity over the past couple of years (which is normal for people in my position as an up-and-coming artist). Throughout the process of writing this EP I had to come to terms with these qualities and really face a lot of insecurities I have about myself, and also ask myself so many times “who am i?” Music makes you feel alive, and when you feel alive you’re talking to your higher self, your most genuine self, who you really are.”

Music is a portal for Pretty Girl, who invites you into her world through left-field infusions of house, UKG, and techno, pairing all her productions with dreamlike, gossamer vocals. Over the past two years the producer, singer, and DJ has been making a splash on both sides of the globe with her captivating live set, playing a live set at Boiler Room Melbourne, supporting Bonobo and Fred again.., selling out her Australia-wide headline tour, and making her way to the UK.

Her 2023 UK tour provided new ground for PG to work her magic live set and diverse DJ sets. Notable shows include a sold-out headline live show at Phonox London, live sets at AVA Belfast, Lost Village and All Points east, as well as DJ sets at Glastonbury, DC10 Ibiza, and the iconic Mixmag Lab. The live set and the DJ set are both experiences of their own, showcasing PG’s versatility as an artist; able to create vast and deep soundscapes in real-time with hardware and her own vocals whilst playing live, and able to take a dancefloor higher with her DJ set. With two EPs, five singles, several million Spotify streams, and remixes for acclaimed artists such as Romy and George Fitzgerald under her belt, PG’s discography points to an artist who knows her sound and knows how to execute it.
