RAÍZ, NUNCA ME FUI, THE ALBUM BY NIÑA PASTORI, SOLEDAD PASTORUTTI AND LILA DOWNS NOMINATED FOR THE LATIN GRAMMY 2024 IN THE CATEGORY BEST FOLK ALBUM
Ten years after receiving the Latin GRAMMY for Best Folk Album, Raíz returned, the artistic conjunction that brought together Lila Downs, Niña Pastori and Soledad Pastorutti along the way, to create an EP that fuses the talent and personality of three essential figures of music from Mexico, Spain and Argentina.
History repeats itself, and Nunca me fui, the continuation of that brilliant project, gives the singers a new Latin GRAMMY nomination in the Best Folk Album category. Nunca me fui comprises songs taken from his solo careers, new songs and also immortal classics.
For their recording, the three artists enjoyed the opportunity to meet at the 5020 studios in Miami where they shared, grew and twinned, each of them contributing a song of their own. Recording the album and choosing the repertoire, put the three women before the great challenge of crossing borders in a natural way and, in this way, Lila Downs appeared in the studio with the beautiful “Mezcalito”, taken from her acclaimed album Pecados y milagros (Grammy® Award in 2013 and Latin GRAMMY® in 2012).
Soledad invited her colleagues to recreate “Hispano”, a song originally included in the album Natural, which celebrates what we are, and the power and scope of our language.

For her part, Niña Pastori put on the table “Pon que dale”, a song included in her album Camino (Latin GRAMMY® for Best Flamenco Music Album in 2023), and which in all three voices is a reinvention of a genuinely flamenco song.
Nunca me fui has the production of Carlos Campón “Campi” (Jorge Drexler, Vetusta Morla…) and Víctor Martínez (C. Tangana, Guitarrica Delafuente…), both multiple Latin GRAMMY® winners and responsible for the new sound of Raíz, an album where arrangements, harmonies, melodies, styles, chords and traditional musical elements combine organically with current sounds.
In addition to the three songs by Lila Downs, Niña Pastori and Soledad, Nunca me fui includes a version of “Todo Cambia”, a majestic song that Mercedes Sosa turned into an anthem, and the unreleased song “Tan bonita”, a cumbia with renewed airs and that has the three artists among its authors.
