ripmattblack Shares the Music Video for Genre-Bending Jam “Lilac”

“Lilac” Will Appear On the 4/28 Happy Hour EP, Executive-Produced by Take A Daytrip

The Naples, FL Singer-Songwriter Gives A Playful Glimpse of His Quarantine Day-To-Day in a Sun-Drenched New Video

One of the leading lights of the flourishing Southwest Florida pop scene, ripmattblack is primed to hit the big time. Coming through with his latest piece of ear candy, Matt shares “Lilac,” his new video single. Driven by punchy guitars and snapping snares and buoyed by Matt’s off-kilter charm, “Lilac” is an instant mood-booster, produced by Jahnei Clarke (Lil Dicky, Masego, YSN Flow) and Johan Lenox (Travis Scott, Kayne West, Selena Gomez, Lil Nas X). With his vocal delivery threading the needle between pop, R&B, and hip-hop, Matt playfully tells the tale of a relationship that isn’t progressing as quickly as he would like: “Come back/We can make this thing last/I’m a brat/I’m impatient and I/Feel attacked/You’ve been takin’ your time/I’m too fast.” Shot in his North Hollywood home with a deliberately lo-fi aesthetic, the “Lilac” video gives a glimpse into Matt’s quarantine lifestyle, as he passes the time with FaceTime sessions, music making, and half-hearted attempts at cooking and working out.
