Rising Afrobeats Sensation Oxlade Captivates with New Track & Music Video ‘Arabambi
TAKEN FROM HIS DEBUT ALBUM OXLADE FROM AFRICA
SET TO RELEASE THIS FALL
Emerging Afropop sensation Oxlade unveils a fresh track and accompanying music video titled “ARABAMBI”.
Set against a rich, ethereal backdrop, Oxlade masterfully blends Afrobeats, R&B, and pop as he passionately implores his beloved to remain by his side and offer her eternal love. This track signifies the final stage before the release of his debut album, “Oxlade From Africa”, slated for release this fall.
Speaking about the track, Oxlade explains, “ARABAMBI translates to ‘the child of the people,’ ‘the community’s child,’ ‘the chosen one.’ It’s also the moniker of K1 De Ultimate, a legendary Nigerian Fuji musician. The melody draws inspiration from American singer Miguel and his vocal style. While it’s a love song, it still showcases my braggadocious elements. It was the original song I intended to perform for COLORSxSTUDIOS before I switched it for ‘Ku Lo Sa.’”
The track is complemented by a music video that emanates warmth, both in its visual allure and the tangible energy it radiates, encapsulating the essence of the track’s fiery, rhythmic celebration. The scenic video features Oxlade and his partner journeying to the tropics to revel in each other’s company amidst breathtaking surroundings.
“ARABAMBI” is the latest offering from “Oxlade From Africa”, Oxlade’s forthcoming debut album, following “Intoxycated”, a sizzling collaboration with UK rap sensation Dave, and his double single “KATIGORI/PIANO.” The smooth single “Intoxycated”, which explores the contemporary language of love, made it to the Top 50 of the UK official charts, received acclaim in The New York Times, and was named Hottest Record by BBC Radio 1. The album builds on the momentum from Oxlade’s massive 2022 hit, “Ku Lo Sa”, which amassed over 541 million global streams.
Oxlade’s ascent to mainstream fame continued unabated last year, culminating in a nomination for Best Afrobeats Song at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards. This nomination followed a strong performance at the 2023 Headie Awards, where he garnered four nominations, including Best Song Of The Year and Best Recording Of The Year. Last summer, Oxlade elevated his profile with remarkable live performances, including a show with Usher at the Global Citizen Festival in Ghana, and a performance alongside Wizkid at the Accor Arena in France.
