Soft Launch, London, Oslo, New Music Releases, Entertainment News, Singer, Songwriter, Pop, Pop Music, Pop Artist, TOAST PR, BBC Radio, Good Form Recordings, Parlophone, Paul McCartney, Pop, Josh McClorey, Henry Pearce, Conor Price, Ben Quinn, All Points East,

Following the success of their debut single ‘Cartwheels’, five-piece boyband Soft Launch are here with their second outing, ‘Piano Hands’The track premiered on BBC Radio 1’s Future Artists show last night and is out now via Good Form Recordings/Parlophone. The playful track switches tempo and structure as effortlessly as a Paul McCartney anthem and bends genres from the alternative Baroque pop of Vampire Weekend or Fleet Foxes to the millennial psychedelia of LA Priest or Tame Impala. Soft Launch all write, produce, and deftly interchange instruments throughout the recording process and gigs. Lead vocals come in various waves from Josh McClorey, Henry Pearce, Conor Price & Ben Quinn, with Limmer steadying The Beach Boys-esque ship. ‘Piano Hands’ showcases their versatility and energy, pulling on the strengths of the individual members. In the band’s own words, “Piano Hands is an arm around the shoulder for people deep in thought and deep in debt.” The music video for ‘Piano Hands’ will premiere, this Friday on YouTube at 6 pm.

Their already packed-out live shows are where anyone should head for a good time. Wall to wall with eager sub-20-somethings scream-singing every word back to the boys and lapping up the vibe. Here is a band totally realised, at ease with the stage and themselves. They will have you wrapped around their little fingers without breaking a sweat. The band’s next headliner will see them play to a sold-out crowd at Oslo, Hackney, on June 14th. This will be followed by summer festival appearances including All Points East where they will join Gossip, Teenage Fanclub, The Postal Service + more.

When asked to describe themselves they quickly reel off “Irish” and “boyband”.  It’s funny because Soft Launch are not entirely Irish. They are also not entirely a boyband: not in the way you might expect anyway, but it’s exactly this brand of glint-in-the-eye self-awareness that they wear so well and draws you into their orbit of stylish, intelligent, melodic perfection.
