2024 kicks off with an unexpected fusion: Los Ángeles Azules and their iconic cumbia join forces with the powerful voice of Alejandro Fernández, the foremost representative of the ranchera genre. Both global leaders in their respective genres now converge in “La cumbia triste,” a song that will undoubtedly bring everyone to the dance floor.
The song, written by Aureo Baqueiro and Leonel García, and produced by Rodolfo Lugo and Jorge Mejía Avante, is available now on all digital platforms, accompanied by a spectacular official video directed by Christian Schmid, who visually captured the magic and emotion of this unique collaboration.
With each new project, Los Ángeles Azules reaffirm their position as the foremost exponents of cumbia worldwide. Their latest album, ‘Cumbia del Corazón’(2022), has already amassed 152 million streams on digital platforms, with its accompanying videos surpassing 201 million views.
Following the success of that production, the Mejía Avante siblings unveiled singles that will be part of an upcoming album, one of which is the incredible song “El amor de mi vida” Feat. María Becerra, which held the #1 spot on national radio for four weeks; it also accumulated 46 million streams, 76 million views worldwide, ranks #69 on the Global Top Music Video on YouTube, is #1 in Colombia, Argentina, and Chile, while in the United States, it is in the Top 5.
Their previous album, ‘De Buenos Aires Para el Mundo’(2020), debuted at #8 on the Billboard Regional Mexican Albums chart, marking their twelfth album to enter the Top 10 of this prominent list. Currently, this production has accumulated an impressive 220 million streams, and its videos have surpassed an astonishing 920 million views on YouTube.
In 2023, the group received the Artistic Trajectory award from the Billboard Latin Music Awards and was nominated for the Latin GRAMMY in the Best Cumbia / Vallenato Album category for ‘Cumbia del Corazón.’
