YORDANO RELEASES HIS NEW ALBUM IDA Y VUELTA

With the release of Ida y Vuelta, Yordano presents a heartfelt tribute to the legendary artists who influenced his career, while also introducing new, deeply personal songs. This 19th album marks a journey that connects the young Giordano di Marzo of the 1970s to the seasoned Yordano, now celebrated as one of Latin America’s most influential singer songwriters.
Ida y Vuelta is more than a tribute album. It’s a fresh take on classics from The Rolling Stones, Tom Waits, Paul McCartney, and The Beatles, infused with tropical rhythms that transform each song into a cross-cultural experience. Songs like “Wild Horses” and “Play With Fire” are reimagined with Caribbean influences, blending the blues with the warmth of Latin sounds to create something entirely unique.
A defining feature of Ida y Vuelta is Yordano’s commitment to capturing the authenticity of live performance. Rather than recording in separate sessions, the album was crafted in real-time with the musicians, recreating the energy and spontaneity of a live show. This was achieved across studios in Caracas, New York, and Miami, featuring a stellar lineup of musicians.
A standout moment on the album is Yordano’s revival of “Sólo Ilusión,” a song that had been tucked away for decades. This is its first recording since its release on Después de Todo in 2020, showcasing Yordano’s ability to refresh his own legacy while remaining forward-looking.
The album also includes two gems from Yordano’s early career: “El Rostro de la Calle” and “Rojo Sangre y Negro,” originally performed with his band Sietecuero. Now fused into a powerful medley, these tracks highlight the raw and evocative urban poetry that has been a hallmark of his work from the start.
Among the new compositions, “Aquí y Allá” stands out, a tribute to his brother Evio, tragically killed in Caracas in 2018. With echoes of 1950s vocal groups and a nostalgic feel akin to The Beatles’ “This Boy,” the song is a poignant homage to loss and memory. Other new tracks, like “Finales Felices” featuring Yuri Bastidas and “Alma Vacía,” delve into themes of sorrow and melancholy, delivered with Yordano’s signature poetic touch.
According to Yordano, Ida y Vuelta is a celebration of the musical roots that shaped him, blending his influences with the creative freedom provided by Sony Music Latin to merge cover songs with original works. The result is an album that bridges the past and present, offering a rich, layered listening experience.
