ANGELO LEROI SHARES NEW EP ELROI
Angelo LeRoi, the Chicago-based singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, has just shared his new EP eLRoi –– out now, along with an accompanying music video for “FOREVER”. A warm, unfailingly personal collection of love songs rooted in reverence for the beauty found in everyday life, the five-track project is fully self-produced, written, and recorded by LeRoi himself.
A tribute to the rich cultural history of Black American Blues music, eLRoi also heeds influence from artists like Smokey Robinson, Curtis Mayfield, and Picasso, the latter of whose Blue Period painting “The Old Guitarist” inspired the EP’s cover art. eLRoi stamps LeRoi’s first project since January’s I’M A DOGand serves as his grand reintroduction as a solo artist following a prolific string of production credits that includes “Small Talk” (feat. Samara Cyn), the lead single to Ovrkast.’s forthcoming album WHILE THE IRON IS HOT, on which he also produced the intro track.
Originally hailing from Los Angeles, LeRoi first made waves when he linked with MAVI for two tracks, “Opportunity Kids” (1.5M Streams) and “Hemlock” (6M+ Streams), off the rapper’s 2022 album Laughing so Hard, it Hurts, a collaboration that has since blossomed into a full-blown creative partnership. In 2024, he served as one of the lead writers and producers on both MAVI’s critically-acclaimed album shadowbox, crafting the instrumental for poignant lead single “drunk prayer” (4M+ Streams) from scratch, and the villain wins!, the stirring debut mixtape from MESSIAH!, in addition to his production work on Michigan R&B crooner Malaya’s project CONCESSION.
