BLK ODYSSY RELEASES NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO FOR “CHANGES”

Trailblazing artist and producer BLK ODYSSY unveils his powerful new single and video “Changes”. This introspective track explores the emotional turbulence of transformation, with lyrics like “Can’t take all these changes, thought it would be painless,” capturing the raw pain of heartbreak. Featuring melodic percussion and BLK ODYSSY’s soulful crooning over a calming yet rock-infused beat, “Changes” offers a poignant reflection on the complexities of love and loss. This single sets the stage for his highly anticipated third studio album, 1-800-FANTASY, set to drop on July 19th via EARTHCHILD/EMPIRE. The “Changes” video is the first in a compelling sequel story. In this video, BLK ODYSSY finally finds himself with the girl of his high school fantasy, but their union takes a haunting turn with a surprising twist at the end, as he realizes that he’s been imagining that it was him inside with his crush and that in reality, he was watching from outside her window imagining it was him. The video’s narrative captures the emotional intensity and unexpected moments of the song, setting the stage for the unfolding story in future releases.
Following the release of his single and video “Stank Rose” featuring Joey Bada$$ earlier this month, and his performance of “Phase” on COLORS, BLK ODYSSY announced the release of his forthcoming album, 1-800-FANTASY, out July 19th. This 13-track opus marks a daring new direction, blending indie pop-rock with his signature infusion of funk, R&B, and hip-hop. 1-800-FANTASY unfolds a gripping concept narrative, delving into the turbulent obsession of a teenage boy with an elusive woman, brought to life through tantalizing hotline exchanges. As the tale progresses, the protagonist’s yearning spirals into impatience and madness, culminating in a profound epiphany of his solitude. The album’s bright, melodic soundscapes are starkly contrasted by its dark, intense lyrics, showcasing BLK ODYSSY’s ability to weave raw, visual storytelling into an emotional rollercoaster. BLK ODYSSY was featured in Afropunk earlier this year, where they praised his work, stating, “BLK ODYSSY masterfully adopts elements of the past while infusing their unique style, creating a composition that resonates deeply.” His tribute performance for Bootsy Collins at the 2024 Black Music Honors in Atlanta underscored his versatility and deep respect for musical legends. This year has seen BLK ODYSSY making significant waves, performing a funk rendition of “WANT YOU” during his NPR Tiny Desk Concert and being named one of Complex’s ‘15 R&B Artists to Watch in 2024’. His viral ‘From The Block‘ performance of “XXX” ft. Wiz Khalifa showcased his innovative style. Standing at the forefront of a new wave of Black indie and alternative artists, BLK ODYSSY creates space for Black musicians in rock and indie genres. Alongside the album release, BLK ODYSSY will embark on a North American and European tour, starting in Austin on August 31.
